The problem with the events is that they require a connection with a profile on the Pokemon website, and many people just don't want to bother with that or don't know about it. If you could participate just by connecting to the internet there would be a lot more participants.

Fantastic news for the franchise, it's amazing to see it remain so strong after so many years. I hope that Gamefreak continues to keep things fresh and keeps the momentum. That rumoured Pokemon Stars would be a greeeeat way to do that =p
