Epic created and made gears of war successful not Microsoft. They simple bought the IP years later.

You Sr. are correct.

But even if we pretend that Microsoft were the ones behind the creation of Gears, 10 years is a long time for a gaming brand to find their next franchise.

I can picture extensive brain storm sessions with their most creative people and going like: Well, we have nothing. XD

MS havnt produced a successful new IP since Gears 10 years ago.. wasnt Ori released acouple years ago.
Sony have had the poorest innovations. They copy and paste from others and that shows though out there history. In fact Sonys strenght has always been about power from the start. They just failed to make the most powerful console until the PS4. Look at there innovations, they recycled the same controller for 3 generations. Not exactly being innovative.

1) Microsoft did not create Ori. Moon Studios did. And even if we pretend that Microsoft did it, that's 1 franchise in over 10 years. What was your point exactly?

2) If you believe the DS4 is the same controller than the DS3, then you probably haven't had both controllers in your hand. Feel free do try this and then you will understand why you are wrong.

I'm also optimistic about this game. But we don't know how its going to turn out. To illustrate, I was really excited about Project Spark until Microsoft realized it was not going to be a finantial success and shut down the servers.

Something similar happened to Fable Legends, another first party service based type of game that was already playable.

But, lets pretend Sea of Thieves is already released, it sold well, people actually found the way to be online at the same time, the game is a success and Microsoft announces it will be their next franchise.

Let's say all these factors lined up, that's 1 successful franchise in over 10 years, is that something to expect from a software company?

Yes they are. It used to be Nintendo, but Sony just make the best console in the market.
And I need to own one.

These are the reasons I confidently buy PS consoles day one. They will deliver, even if they stumble initially (PS3). I await the day Nintendo returns to N64 days, and often wonder if I'll ever find a good reason to own another Xbox.

Exactly.  And even their latest successful IP minecraft they had zero to do with the creation of it aswell.

Consoles don't have innovation these days, well, Nintendo has some but Sony and MS have shit for innovation this gen, or last gen, or the gen before that. It's been a power race for awhile now. VR is NOT an innovation, they basically just took PC tech and made it shittier and cheaper. I haven't seen much in software innovation with SONY either, only recent ones are Gravity Rush 1+2, rest are like, shooters, shooters, Nintendo wannabe games, and more shooters. Really though, it's hard to have software innovation these days unless you are Indie, so I don't blame them.
