But even if we pretend that Microsoft were the ones behind the creation of Gears, 10 years is a long time for a gaming brand to find their next franchise.

 I can picture extensive brain storm sessions with their most creative people and going like: Well, we have nothing. XD

They have Sea of Thieves. 

I'm also optimistic about this game. But we don't know how its going to turn out. To illustrate, I was really excited about Project Spark until Microsoft realized it was not going to be a finantial success and shut down the servers.

Something similar happened to Fable Legends, another first party service based type of game that was already playable.

But, lets pretend Sea of Thieves is already released, it sold well, people actually found the way to be online at the same time, the game is a success and Microsoft announces it will be their next franchise.

Let's say all these factors lined up, that's 1 successful franchise in over 10 years, is that something to expect from a software company?
