How long do you think these consoles will last on the market based on raw power alone?

Most people are completely satisfied with xbox one and ps4 graphics. Ps4 pro is about 2.5 times as powerful and ps4 and xbox one scorpio is 6 times as powerful as xbox one s.

Since these two consoles are selling amazing 4 years after launch i can imagine these new consoles will sell amazing for the next 8 years or so. I see no reason for a xbox 4 or ps5 anytome soon. The 6 teraflops in the xbox one scorpio should produce graphics that are nearly indistinguishable from real life! Microsoft is totally amazing. Sony is great too but ive always preferred xbox i dont know why.

I am curious to see what do you folks think is in store for us in the next few years graphics wise? I also think hdr plays a huge role in achieving life like graphics i highly recommend getting an hdr tv! I have one and gears of war 4 looks amazing!

6 (scorpio) teraflops divied by 1.4 teraflops (XB1s) = 4.2 times, not 6.

I think by 2020 we ll see Xbox Two, and Playstation 5.

No one cares for dat grfxxx on consoles except for some weirdos. Sales for PS4 Pro and Scorpio won't set the world on fire, the overall sales for each platform will go down just like with earlier generations. Therefore Sony and Microsoft will launch the Next-Gen around 2020 or something. Because people aren't hyped because of more power. All they really wanna see is something new with new and exclusive games. Sure, the PS5 won't be all that more powerful than the PS4 Pro. But just look at the PS4. Games don't look all that much better than on PS3, compared to previous generations the differences are tiny. And the console still sells like hot cakes.

Power doesn't matter, not for the sales and not for the longevity of any given platform. It never did. The Game Boy was around until the end of the 90s with hardware that was already outdated when the machine released in 1989.

I think it will be PS4 - 3 years and PS4 Pro - 3 years. So 2020 is the time when PS5 arrives.

So in the end, Nintend will win and be right. It's not about graphics, it's about content.

Yup, Uncanny Valley. Then 4K Blu-ray will start taking off. PS4 Pro will have a second version though, with 4K Blu-ray.

The games made for parity are only able to push to the limits of the weakest hardware. The OG Xbox One is the weakest link in the console chain to these games. It will hold games back the most.

Xbox has that base line to work with and it would make the Scorp appealing for their brand. It takes the weakest and strongest achievement trophy, as well as the cheapest and most expensive products as well perhaps.

Sony found the pretty awesome efficiency to power setup with the PS4 and PS4 Pro this gen. They've the making for a super efficient console in the PS5 round.

The Scorp is such a radical step from the OG Xbox One, that it could be the next gen for the Xbox brand. PlayStation with the PS4 would be held back by the OG Xbox One and they will bring the PS5 out with a total backwards compat., and power effic. for gaming proficiency moving forward.

Call me crazy, but I think these "upgrades" aren't designed to "extend" the current generations but rather to secure an existing userbase.

I expect the PS5/XB2 to hit the market around 2020. But the difference is that I believe the PS4/XB1 would remain as forward compatible consoles. So even when the PS5 is getting its games the current PS4 will still be getting those games.

People need to remember that the money in gaming comes from selling software, sony probably wouldn't make more than $10 from selling a brand new PS5 but they stand to make way more than that from every game sold at any point in time.

Having the PS4/PS4pro be forward compatible allows them not just make a ridiculously powerful console, but the PS5 could even be priced at as high as $500/$600 with the intention of not selling more than 6-8M of them in its launch year. Then drop the price as the etch inside it becomes more affordable.

Tell that to the wiiu and wii.  Power is the mostimportant factor, if you ar 5% more or less powerfull matetr not.
