Forums - Nintendo - Mario's completion status and other games

The implications that Mario is nearly finished makes me wonder.

We saw a few games at start, though they are also decently distributed in the pre E-3 Months (March Zelda, April Mario Kart, Arms sometime in Spring) that the system will be well covered by Nintendo standards and third parties have openings to avoid overshadowing, if that theory is true.

Here's a question though: how many Nintendo games are nearly ready to go, but are being held back. Possibly until E3.

Do they have smaller games like Luigi's Mansion 3 or Pikmin 4 in the wings that they are going to do this with.

"Here at E3 we only show games we will release soon. We're here to debut these games to the world, and prepare you for their launch this summer and fall as you prepare for Mario's newest adventure"

I'd like to see Mario keep the holiday release, even if it's 99% complete. They'll spend the time to Polish it probably.

Probably most of the ones announced are done.

I don't think they wan't Zelda, Mario and Splatoon competing with each other. Remember 2002?

Like spem said, probably most of the ones announced in the reveal are near completion

I doubt any that are "ready" were not shown at this conference.

I'm guessing we get some Pikman, Metroid, ect at E3, but they are 2018 titles.
I think they wanted to keep the conference to 2017 titles only.

Interesting, I wonder what after this they'll come out with. I also do hope that they'll spread their wings with the games to announce, and hopefully drop some bombs.

I think we'll see Pikmin 4, Metroid, Kirby, and Smash Bros. at E3. Now that I think about it, this was really the best launch situation for Nintendo. Wait until E3 to show off these games and get people hyped.

Pikmin yes, Smash yes, Kirby maybe. Metroid is a fringe hope, it's not nearly good enough to risk the Switch's success on

Id wager Pikimin 4 is close to done and will release this year.

Myamoto said it was close to completion in September 2015. Unless they ran into massive developement trouble that game must be finished by now. In fact it was probably finished about a year ago and the Team is working on a 2D Mario/Super Mario Maker Switch port or possibly both by now.

All they released since SMM (also Sep 2015) is the SMM 2DS port and that team is big enough to work on two projects concurrently. My guess is that part of the Team is working on a new Project, either a 2D Mario or a new Myamoto IP and the other is working on SMM switch port, with Pikmin 4 finished on some shelf, waiting for release (or possibly localization).
