So does my laptop, and my vita. It turns off the wifi and bluetooth antennas. So does the 3DS and PSP with the physical switch on the side that turns off the wifi antenna.

It's the default symbol for people who haven't paid Nintendo for online yet.

And how do the controllers comunicate with the switch without a wireless connection?

They might not. You might have to use it in handheld mode with the joycons attached between takeoffs and landings.

Not sure if it would work but it will be interesting. 

The 3DS has it too, it's called turning of wireless :p

But the Switch would always need at least some form of wireless connection for the controllers..
