I have 3DS and wanting PS Vita and i was interested to buy Wii U for the exclusives. Now Nintendo has the Wii U on Vita dimension , and it will have a lot of exclusive and Japanese games support. I am happy , but i have to wait, for the price. I say i like Switch for the handled factor and the exclusive. For consoles ability it's just a plus benefit. My primary consoles system are from PS4 and PC (platforming games ) . So i am buying Switch for handled factor.

So it's confirmed that there will be no another DS handheld?

I really don't know...I want to say neither but due to the nature of the system, I'd say handheld gamers are. Switch as a console just doesn't stack up to anything the competition is doing, and they're doing it cheaper with more games and accessories that don't cost an arm and a leg to buy. I mean really, a piece of plastic with 1 HDMI out and USBC costs $90? Sure, only in Nintendo land it does.

Even as a handheld device, it doesn't carry the value that Nintendo handhelds have had in the past. So I guess, I'll 180 then and say it will appeal more to console gamers...the 10+ million that bought the Wii U...and here we are again.

As a console gamer I'm happy to see the next gen of Nintendo consoles.

As a portable gamer, I'm saddened that traditional portable systems will no longer exist after the 3DS and Vita.

The days of being able to put your system in your pocket are over ;(!

Maybe they'll come out with a switch micro

Or perhaps a standalone console bundled with a pro controller as well, like the Wii mini.
With the hardware inside it could even become the size of a Roku stick in a few years. How's that for portable console gaming.

That's separating the functionality again, but you still have the benefit of console plus handheld library to choose from. Or did you mean a smaller version that still fits in the dock (or smaller dock as well) Perhaps a switch micro with smaller cpu/gpu won't need active cooling anymore and can even run at full docked power. Nintendo has a history of upgrading their handhelds, so chances are Switch won't be any different.

The Switch has tons of potential, the launch lineup is its biggest hurdle atm. The high price wouldn't look so bad with more games to choose from at launch, and a pack in would help a lot. Perhaps it's for the better and the scalpers will be done, stock levels up, by the time the holiday season hits.

I'll speak for myself and say that handheld gamers are probably more excited about this

Just being able to play all Nintendo games + other 3rd party on the go is really enticing and I've always preferred handheld over consoles

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

I'm a console gamer and I think its not worth it. As far as I'm concerned its a upclocked Wii U with a couple hardware boosts. Wii U died for this and I think its disgraceful. I was all hopeful for launch that we'd see Bayo 3 or maybe TW102 or something like that. Instead we got some wiimotes, 1,2,Switch, and some ice cube shaking shenanigans.

Maybe someday they will make a VitaTV version of Switch with a pro controller and sell it for $199. that is as close as I'm ever getting to Switch.

Since the official announcement, I've already said many times that it will be the Vita dream, so you know where I stand on that one lol. If I get to play games then I don't care where I am or how I do it, always got my PC at the end of the day lol.

I've always had a bit of a grudge against the Vita. Stealing away Wipeout and Valkyria Chronicles, same with 3ds getting Ni No Kuni way before I got to play it. Plus I never heard the end of how great professor Layton is from friends. (My kids have a 2DS, no tv out unfortunately)
So although the launch line up is pretty bad, the Switch has great potential.

That's the great thing about it, there is nothing to steal anything away from the Switch, it's a dockable console, that's why I was happy about it, but I think a lot of people are caught on raw power while it's docked rather than the potential of it also being a valid portable device.

honestly, I'm impressed by how far the motion control and feedback has come by watching a lot of videos. I'm one of the few people actually really wanting to play ARMS I'll bet lol.

Console gamer and sadly the value proposition just isn't there.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
