In a heartbeat, assuming good price. I don't even need all those extra features Joy-Con has, I just want buttons (and possibly analog sticks, but even they're not necessary). Mobile gaming sucks, and it's because of the restricting controls.

Nope, but now I have! I was sure some controller thing existed already, but considering how I've never heard too much about them, I was sure they're not very widely supported (which seems to be the case here as well). There needs to be a popular standard, preferably an open one, for controllers on Android (or smart phones in general, for all I care, but at least Android since that's my camp).

No I haven't heard of Moga but thanks for the nightmares.
Wiimote too big to carry around with a phone, joycon looks tiny.

They're going to have to fight against the fact that Google and Apple have conditioned their customers to see "free" as the standard price point for apps. |
By combining the home console and phone games library, that will not be a issue. You pay $59.99 for one version of Call of Duty, and it plays on your Switch, which is your home console and your phone. Or in the case of PlayStation one copy runs on your PS Phone and your PS4/PS4 Pro. By using the same CPU/GPU combo in the home and portable devices, it is only a matter of scaling, and that is great for developers and consumers. No more ports for portable consoles = massive time saved, and a full scale line-up of titles on the mobile device means that it is very attractive peice of tech.
In this ecosystem premium games are still worth $60. If you own only a PS4 or a PS Phone, your value is still good. If you own a PS4 and a PS Phone, then your value is outstanding. On top of premium games, these devices would still have all the free to play stuff, and it would still be a massive market. The difference is, you would now have the option of playing a game worth paying for, as opposed to the crap on iOS and Android. Micorosft is already heading in this direction. All 1st party stuff is playable across all Windows platforms, which will be Surface Phone, Surface Pro, Surface Book, Surface Studio, Surface Home (XBO), and PC.
When 2019 - 2020 rolls around OG PS4 hardware will be small enough at 7nm to be shrunk into a device the size of the PS Vita. At the same time Switch will be small enough to be an extreamly compact phone. I really hope Sony and Nintendo deliver with Phones to expand their ecosystem, and create greater value around gaming form factor devices. As gamers we need Consoles and Handhleds to thrive, and Sony and Nintendo are both in poistion to greatly expand the market in the next few years.
