Forums - Gaming - Zelda BotW Difference Between Wii U and Switch

What happened with the colour palette on RII U everything looks so washed out

The WiiU outputs at limited RGB or rec.709 standard TV color space, which looks like that when displayed on a PC monitor without converting it to full RGB. It won't look like that on a TV.

Definitely looks noticeably better.

Is this the difference about consoles or also about versions of the game? One is significantly older than the other, but honestly both look great. Switch clearly wins though, at least going by this video.

Thank god it doesn't because that would be nerving the Wii U version on purpose to make the Switch look superior. Although it's odd the Switch doesn't output rgb limited while plugged in to the dock. It's also a shame it probably won't output HDR for quite some time.

It probably has a setting for that, otherwise it would not be compatible with older tvs and suffer from severe black crush!

I've read that the switch version runs 900p/60 fps with occasional dips in the 50s. Can anyone confirm that?

If so, they really poured most of the Switches additional processing power into performance rather than visuals, wich is fine by me. Draw distance and AA look improved on Switch either way.

Didn't Nintendo themselves just confirm last night that it runs 1080p both on the screen and handheld and the Wii U is 720?

Even on new tv's I don't use the RGB full option. Setting both on limited has always suited my needs just fine. There isn't a big difference anyway if you turn superwhite on.

True. I only turn it on on ps4 for when I want to take screenshots to export or capture some video to show on youtube. Then I'm wondering why tv looks so faded until I realize I forgot to turn my projector back to limited range :) You won't forget the other way around as half the detail in dark areas is missing.

Maybe this will get people to stop saying the Switch didn't advance itself from the Wii U

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Yes, but we are on vgchartz where all the real news are ignored.
