Forums - Nintendo - I'm the only one who disappointed with Xenoblade 2 artstyle?

Agree with most of what people here said.

But I probably won't buy the game. The combat system doesn't interest me. And im getting quite picky with games these days XD

Wouldn't cast such a huge net but a healthy majority of anime does fit the shoe.  There's actually a drinking game mates and I play called "spot the trope" where you take a drink each time an anime cliche pops up.

A case could be made that realistic looking art styles all look the same as well.

But my stand point is that there are many nuances between anime art styles. There's not only one way of drawing anime. Just like there are many ways to stylize realistic visuals. Saying this looks generic just because it's anime style screams close minded to me.

Good point.  Anime is popular so of course I expect it to be the aim for game devs of niche genres.  The reason I said it's generic is that it looks to be following suit just like many RPGs - the 3D modeling of anime, much like the Tales of series.  X has awful character designs, we agree here.  I'm sure X2 will be amazing like the first two but I'm just tired of japanese culture.  They make great games though so *shrug*

"You should be banned. Youre clearly flaming the president and even his brother who you know nothing about. Dont be such a partisan hack"

Looks like a lot of Tales games to be honest and those are on PS4. It's an anime style and it sells.

The series seems to be doing what Zelda does and is switching up artstyles, makes sense tbh as Nintendo are handling the series as a flagship RPG (kind of like FF) for the first party offering so would want to give it as much diversity in approach as possible for it to be around for years to come.

I much prefer the character models from Xenoblade X. I really enjoyed the fact that characters in the Xenoblade series did not look like generic anime characters. Here's hoping they're not high school students.

I hope they just start labeling the Xenoblade games numerically from now on to give the series a defined foundation that seperates it from other Xeno games of the past and gives it its own identity.

I prefer X and the Monado boy over this one.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I never thought I could be so let down, and would never have thought in a million years monolithsoft would make something that looked so generic anime.... Sad day for Xeno fans. Instead of polishing some things with there 3D models, they went for the cash grab....

Same.

The more i look the more i notice how extremely young the characters look. The development cycle is extremely short aswell... getting worried about this one now.
