I'd agree that $299 is too much if this was a pure home console but it isn't. A price higher than what's ok for a portable system and specs that's lower than standard for home consoles were simply two things you had to expect from a hybrid system.

Then they didn't say anything about Virtual Console. Which gives me hope for the one percent chance that Nintendo won't be stupid and try to convince everyone that they need to pay for their VC games a third or fourth time. I'd be OK with a Wii-to-Wii U like upgrade price though. Someone has to convert those games and pay for ESRB ratings. And what if VC games now get online versus modes?
