^ This, basically. I wouldn't mind an optional paid service for those who want it, but putting online behind a paywall is stupid.

If the online isnt free, yea not getting it day 1. Some of my favorite games like ssb and mk are multiplayer focused so paying for a subscription on top of paying for that is no thanks

Thats a shame, thats what most of my Wii U is used for.

Even then I wouldnt pay for it on a nintendo system either, id just skip the next Mario Kart game, if that was the case.

 

I swear I'll try it once. Basically no excuse for not playing MK online but I hardly played Wii version online. Brawl online scared me from even trying Wii U version since it was so laggy. I suppose I just enjoy local more than online because I like the local shit talking between friends.

I don't want to pay every month so that I could get some free/discounted games, I just want to buy the games I want.
I'm not interested in their mobile games or in a magazine.
And I would certainly not pay to play online. That would mean I'd have to buy Splatoon and then have too pay again to actually play it?

They'd only be 'given' away for the length of the subscription. The free games would obviously be 3rd party, Nintendo can offer discounts instead.

I don't think Nintendo will charge for online so they need other stuff instead if they want to rake in 20% console price/yr like Sony and MS do.

I have to agree with rol on this. My layout above was more of an IF they do anything, I could see it like that. However, considering Rol's points on how Nintendo drives value of their product, they are very much unlikely to add any form of paywall and instead keep it open/free with their current rewards system in place.

Guess we'll see tonight.

It's simple, If I have to pay for multiplayer and online services, I'm not buying a Switch at all.

I would be against it with the Switch though, but I don't mind  if they just want to offer a prenium service.

And I didn't buy an Xbox One or PS4 because of that, even though I had a Playstation before.
