As much as I like Insomniac, I'd rather From Software make a new Metroid. It fits perfectly with their narrative ways and atmospheric exploration. They would just need to learn how to make some good puzzles.

No, if anyone can make a Metroid game, it's Insomniac even more than From. Sunset Overtrive is one of the best 3D translations of a Super Metroid's gameplay I've seen. The understand the movement necessary for a satisfying 3D Metroid experience.

The last thing Metroid needs are puzzles. 3D Metroid is fine at atmosphere. What it's bad at is movement mechanics, which is Insomniac's specialty.

I like OBE1, and I don't mean this in a negative way, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if his apparent 'inside sources' he talked to was just Laura Kate Dale giving him some info to help his channel grow or something since she's been on his livestreams before and it seems like she's a fan of him.
