Forums - Microsoft - Confirmed: Scalebound Cancelled

From my understanding of MS, usually they cancel stuff when games continue to not meet milestones. This could be one of those situations where P has to many projects and they were not able to meet milestones set for the game and Scalebound continued to miss expectations. In other words the game probably was a sloppy mess. P can be hit or miss and from the way MS was promoting this game, they had high expectations for it.

Even so, I feel it was more original in thought and execution.

I'm guessing you never played System Shock 1 or 2 because pretty much all the people that did pointed out how unoriginal Bioshock is.

Its irrelevant, the overall game is fantastic in quality and execution even if it follows a formula that existed from a franchise dead 17 years ago.
Theres nothing original about Castlevania: Lords of shadows, everything is borrowed from other games even more popular than System Shock ever were, yet the game is fantastic because the sum of its parts is. Not every game has to invent something to be good.

Rumor is that Titanfall  will NOT get a sequel due to poor sales.  Tomb Raider bounced back on PC and to a lesser extent on the PS4 and it worked out okay but initial sales were ass.  They were really bad. Tomb Raider is safe though as far as a franchise.  There will not be another Ryse.  sales were not that good and it nearly broke Crytek (story goes they had to rush it for launch and wond up in the whole from the title).  Also, I wasn't refering to Microsoft's expectations.  I was talking about IP that was damaged in a deal with Microsoft.

I thought ROTR sold better on Xbox one than PS4.  Anways this sucks, I would rather have a legit "Fable 4" game. Don't know why Microsoft didn't make a Fable 4 at all. They litterally have all the assets from Fable 3. Just update the graphics on a new engine and create a new levels/dungeons. It would've been less risky and would've sold well in my opinion.

Fable 4 is actually a prediction of mine for Microsoft's E3.

Damn, that's really dissapointing. I had been saying that I felt the Xbox One needed more first party games like Scalebound in their lineup, and I thought the game looked good too.

Hope it's not true, but if it is hopefully it can eventually come out at some point.

Phantom Dust isn't in active development, not cancelled outright but i doubt we will ever see it, as for crackdown well scalebound was still coming i wouldn't be betting my house on it.

We heard like a week or 2 ago that cravkdown will launch before scorpio comes out from MS.

Platnum needs to go back to their ninja turtles games if they cant make a good AAA game.

Lmao they ´worked with almost any publisher and always delivered their games, 2 for nintendo, 1 for konami, 1 for square , actiivision etc and you act like its their fault LMAO

If you want to blame someone blame microsoft that cant work with devs.

This is their bigget game ever made and they kept on missing miletones. Their job was to make the game and have certain portions done at time and they didnt do that. The game even got delayed at canned. PG are the ones that missed their development milestones not MS.

My take on all this, and I've been seeing this for a while, is that Microsoft is transitioning all their games to the 'live service' model.

Basically Microsoft want to have their games emulate what Minecraft has been able to do.
Long lifecycle, large user base, Increased spend.

Microsoft's future direction is about being able to offer the Xbox games and live services on multiple devices that run Windows 10.

The problem is Microsoft doesnt seem able to develope something like that.  Fable legends was supposed to be like that.

They bought Minecraft, they didnt make it themselves.

Eh to me it seems like all they needed was time but they didn't want to spend anymore money, just like Phantom Dust. It seems like the Xbox division is on a really small budget this time. I was really looking forward to it, it was pretty much my time of game, a open world RPG with loot and customization :/

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

IMO, it looked and played garbage, MS knows it. Besides no one would of bought it.

For some reason I can't say this comes as a surprise but fuck, I feel bad for Kamiya. Goddamn...
3rd party games going Xbox exclusive hasn't ended well, has it...

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.
