I am comparing two similar cases, but that doesn't mean that vivster and Kerotan are very similar on the whole.

I do think that Kerotan's posting style is so bad that it needs to be addressed. This thread is about moderation in general and the community's thoughts how the forums should be moderated. Talking about Kerotan's posting style isn't off-topic. That it is a recurring topic in this thread is the consequence of his posting style that doesn't improve. Kerotan has had years to learn and improve, so it's not like he hasn't got a chance.

That this has become a long discussion over the course of the past couple of days isn't because of the people who don't like Kerotan's posting style. It all started with a few people asking why Kerotan got banned, I provided an explanation that was seconded by a mod (Carl) who also said that all five of the mods who discussed Kerotan's posts agreed on the moderation, and then people who didn't have a full understanding of the circumstances took issue with the moderation, seemingly unable to realize that they were and are arguing on the basis of wrong assumptions.

No, I just disagree with the grounds you're using to justify it. If the mods are using that same grounds then they are wrong. People need to learn how to be able to tolerate things or people they don't like.

i agree. i think nintendo is the best company by far and I dont like the things he posts, but im not going to cry to a mod about it. i can handle opinions that arent the same as mine

yeah, i admit that i do wish the rules were a little more lax about trashing things you dont like. id have a lot less moderations if that were the case lol. 

i feel the way i do about it because id like for it to be reciprocated to me if my 360 just broke and i feel like venting and saying something like "the xbox 360 is xyz..."
