Can we stop Kerotan from making this thread every week? Seems very unnecessary.
Once a month is fine. But not everyweek.

If the top 7 was all Nintendo would you have the same problem? Soon Pokemon releases along with Smash soon after so it's going to get real juicy for Nintendo. Not to mention Black Friday week where everybody will move lots of SW.

There's a reason why I only started doing the yearly thread for the last 8 weeks or so of the year. Because there is massive movement on the chart with all the huge titles coming out and general November/December holiday sales.

But yeah lets shut down a relevant sales thread on a sales forum that's struggling to stop it's decline in traffic. Great idea, just what we need.

Is it?

Well that's what I was told (i think in this thread) about 1 to 2 months ago. That the forum was losing users faster then it was gaining them?

Forums across the internet are pretty much bleeding users, closing up shop and in general... Are in decline.
Forums were a very defining aspect of Web 1.0, we live in a very different online world now where Social Media, Discord, Youtube, Twitch and so on are consuming most peoples online hours.

VGChartz is and will exist probably allot longer than other forums as it has aspects that can draw some users in. - It is also highly dependent on the console market... And what is happening there. - This console generation for example is relatively droll from a sales perspective verses the 7th gen where the Playstation 3 sputtered straight off the race line... And the Wii came out from nowhere.

Nothing lasts forever I am afraid, will be interesting to see what the forums ends up like at the start of the next console cycle from an activity perspective.

Alright. I thought it was going to continue to many more weeks. If no one else has a problem then feel free to continue making it.

How would more information ever be a problem on threads people can choose to pay attention to or not ?

I presume it's a problem with what the information is showing rather then the info itself. But I echo this post.

I am very interested to know how mods are chosen after reading the recent posts. It's making me question the selection method or you might have some people who are not responsible enough causing problems for the mods and the general community

It's not really a complicated process, so here's a slice..... There is a deliberation and several things are considered...

  • Mod History
  • Knowledge of the site (and community)
  • Any past moderator experience
  • How well you've been known to handle/judge a tough forum situation

Just examples. Can I ask what recent posts piqued your curiosity? What problems for the mods and community make you question the process?

I think the political threads are where the modding is the most suspect. It sort of feels like things that to people seem rather trivial and not a big deal are treated as such by mods. Maybe it's to do with where you're from .Where I am from, we discuss politics openly and don;t shy away from it while people in the US general don't like that. Maybe because of that things that seem ok with me are not so for the mods. But even without that difference, inferring something from previous posts and imposing a bias on individuals is not a good mod strategy and feel that happened to me last time. It felt like he said you did this stuff before and you did it while talking about the same subject, so you are doing it again. Maybe a combination of how to manage political threads plus developing biases from history is what I think is wrong here

Edit: Recent posts that peaked my interest are not in my head right now because I have finals coming up and haven't been as active so I can't say
