Forums - Gaming - Sony's PS4 Pro Sales Silence is an Ominous Sign for Scorpio?

The only ominous sign for the Scorpio is that it's an Xbox. That will hurt the sales more than anything else. People have already decided that they don't really want an Xbox this gen and Scorpio won't change that. Unless of course you're under the delusion that PS4 only sells this well because of power difference.

This comment doesn't make much sense.  XB1 is selling well.  It is on pace to approximately match sales of the 360.   It is simply incorrect to say that people have decided they don't want an Xbox this gen.

Yes, the same way it is wrong to say that people didn't want a Wii U or a Vita.

My statement is in the context that Scorpio won't change anything in the current sales situation. I see no reason that Scorpio will sell better than the Xbox simply because power isn't the main reason why people buy PS4s over Xboxes. More power does not fix the software and image problem.

That said, the reason why people buy a PS4 over an Xbox is because PS4 is not an Xbox. Scorpio however is one, so nothing will change.

More an ominous sign for the Pro than the Scorpio...

Since both the vanilla ps4 and the pro play the same games, the cheaper option was preferable, surely? That and maybe people buy hardware not so much for the hardware but more so for the software?

Mostly that most people don't own a HDR 4KTV yet. Not much point in spending an extra $100 when you don't even have a TV that can take advantage of the primary features.

As time goes on and 4K adoption increases, the popularity of the Pro model will likely grow with it.

And isn't Scorpio designed to play the same games X1? And X1S will be cheaper than PS4S while Scorpio will be more expensive than PS4Pro? So the effects would seem even bigger

They didn't completely rule out that it could get exclusives, however I wouldn't expect any until a couple of years after the things been released if it does get any... and by that point we'll be talking about ps5.

They basically said they wouldn't stop publishers making them exclusive to Scorpio... but what publisher is going to do that? They took long enough to ditch the ps3/360.

fact is: The PS4 Pro seems to be sold out in many, many countries. America, UK, Germany, france.. many stores have no PS4 Pro. I think exact sales figures will be called later. In my opinion: If the PS4 Pro is available again, it makes more sense to call exact sales figures :)

As usual, Microsoft will not name any sales figures, I think.

PS4 Pro is not nearly sold out anywhere in America.

I mean... the first site I check is Amazon, and it's sold out sooo....

Why would they break down PS4P sales with PS4. They both are going to coexist. It is not a replacement. PS4P is not having much advantage ATM for 1080P users. Scorpio will be the same though. I am not sure 1080P users are going to get much out of scorpio

I'm talking brick and mortar stores. It's very readily available.

Scorpio powerful yet will remain second to PS4 until the generation end. easy prediction and however bitter it seems to be at this point.
