No, they would buy a good shooter.

ah, I meant nude without the light bars (hate those stupid bars!) |
Ah! Then no, I don't think we'll ever get that (without PC mods). It would be bad for the game's age rating, and it could become forbidden in several countries...

I will admit that I'm assuming that it will be good just for the fact that as a brawler, the Senran series has held its own.

They look fun. I do have Senran Kagura Burst, but havent played it yet.

Yep. Western titles can have nudity, makes no sense that Japanese games can't. Or might rather be a case of nudity being acceptable as a 'topping' to games (Witcher, GTA), but not as a 'main ingredient' (these 'cheesecake so hard its nearly porn' games).

It could be surprising for a lot of people, but Senran Kagura games can be pretty good. The latest main game, Senran Kagura Estival Versus, is a good action/fighting game with an interesting gameplay. You can learn about the series because of the boobs (that's what it's known for), but keep playing after that because it's just really enjoyable to play. The nudity will even be more likely to keep a lot of people away from the games, but it's only a part of the games. We'll see how this spin-off turns out. EDIT: The worst metacritic score is 30, because the journalist said that it's a "competent game" that plays "unfortunately well" but with "inappropriate content" (and the test talks almost exclusively about the nudity, with barely a few lines about the gameplay and the game itself). Perfect example of how this series can be seen as bad because of the boobs, when it's actually a lot more than just that. |
Yep. I've said as much before. This series gets overlooked by many. I'm hardly an expert, but Estival Versus on PS4 is very solid gameplay-wise, and funny in a way that a vast majority of games are not. Bon Apetite was fun too. I have all these games on all PS platforms. Only played the 2 I mentioned.

Actually, I sort of empathize with Ka-pi96. No matter where you stand with the issue of nudity in games, the "light bars" are just stupid. Not necessarily condoning nudity in video games in itself, when a character is nude, they are... nude male or female. But in the case of Senran, why not replace the "light bars" with something like nipple coverings? This would still serve its purpose without being too "censory."

Actually Senran Kagura uses both light bars and nipple coverings. Nipple coverings, which look like bandaids, show up in the middle stages of the cothing destruction system, while the light bars show up when in the clothing is fully destroyed. The in-game story reasoning behind the light bars is that it's a secret ninja art (ninjutsu) which the girls automatically activate to preserve their modesty while fighting instead of fighting fully naked, only prolem is that only some of the Senran Kagura characters care about modesty, some of them you can tell from their personalities would choose to fight naked. I'm guessing that the system is put in place to keep the game from getting an 18+ rating, I'm guessing the amount of nudity that Senran Kagura would have exceeds the ESRB's (and similar rating agencies) criteria to achieve a 16-17+ rating instead of an 18+ rating. |
Why did I forgot about the band-aids? I guess I was thinking of something more aesthetical such as a clan emblems or an elemental signs. Thanks for the correction and clarification.
