Forums - Microsoft - Will the Scorpio own the PS4Pro in EVERY hardware category?

I would argue that PS4 and XOne share 99% of games that mather.

Every year there is only exclusive 3 or 4 games from each side that realy important.

Lets Steam enjoy the crap indies.

We just debunked that d: its mathematically impossible for that to be true and also far more than a 'stretch' to call an over exaggeration.

I'm quite aware. Heck you can just look at THIS month to know that. There are I think 5 games I want to get JUST this month.

I didn't ask for an accurate source, I just wanted an actual source.

I've seen "95%" mentioned several times. I am curious if there is a source (probably crapgamer) being parroted, or if they are just pulling a random out of thin air.

Ohhhh I gotcha.

Nope, I think that's just a generalization that's been repeated so much that people have started taking it as truth.

Serious question, is THAT what we would call confirmation bias? I'm not entirely sure of the term.

Hey Bandorr, I think we found the source

Well... Actually, the false narrative would be to claim that they share 95% of the same library. The reality is that Xbox ones entire library of games available to play is about 67% the size of what you can play on Ps4. This is easily verified on the PSN store and the Microsoft store itself for each console. Look.

939 games total on Xbox, 40 of those Free to play

1414 games total on PS4.

Its possible that 95% of what's on Xbox is available on PlayStation, but it's impossible that 95% of what's on PlayStation is on Xbox.

Inb4 "it's all Japanese games" (hint: it's not)

There are neither over 900 different XBO games in the Xbox marketplace nor over 1400 different PS4 games in the PS Store. Both digital stores have a lot of duplicates in these numbers (standard edition, day1 edition, deluxe edition, ultimate edition...). The PS Store additionally has hundreds of game bundles (2 or more games bundled together, game + dlc bundled together...). Also this stuff:

This way of comparing the game libraries is very flawed.

So unless you clean up both lists of duplicates and emulated arcade games and show us proper lists of PS4 games that aren't on Xbox, it is not very helpful.

Well, I'm not.

Just saying that he might be talking about the best seller games of this generation and If you get the right sample size, lets say the top 300, you could get close to a 95% common library.

But If you arbitraly remove some niche games you can get evento higher.

The point is that library size doesent seem very important outside a forum duscution.

Who the fuck cares? The ps4 and the ps4 pro have been owning all forms of Xbox one in every aspect of hardware for year(s) now and that was never a major discussion point nor did Sony ever try to market or brag about that. I'm hoping Microsoft plans to sell Scorpio off the back of actual exclusives first and foremost but all signs are pointing toward them trying to tout the power advantage because they seemingly don't have much else to talk about.

not sure if serious...

lol yeah, that was pretty funny. Power never a major discussion point... holy smokes.

Anyways, of course it will be superior to PS4P in all hardware categories. It's launching a year later and most assuredly at a higher price. Anything less than superior specs would be failure on MS's end.

Well this is obvious :) The Scorpio is going to be superior in any category.

Now let's see what Microsoft will come up on the software side (better version of games, new games, new softwares, etc...) as well as their VR proposal (I think they will def. come up with something at E3 about that); this is what will make the difference and so far they are not letting us down. So I'm expecting a lot of good stuff on the software side too :)

I know it will not happen as the price would hike but it would be nice to include an Elite controller with every Scorpio :) And as I believe its name will be "Xbox One Elite" it would be a nice package!

Explain to me how PS releasing maybe 4 or 5 more exlusives dramatically makes a difference?

I always find this to be a false narative. I own both consoles. There is MORE to play on them then I can handle.

They share 95% of the SAME EXACT GAMES. But yet somehow 4 or 5 more "exclusives" (I'm not talking indie) a year makes some HUGE difference between their catalogs.

Just to give you an EXAMPLE..  Top 100 Video Games for 2016..  Microsoft had 3 Exclusives, (Halo, Forza, and Gears 4).   PS4 had 5 (Last Of Us, Uncharted, and No Mans Sky, Ratched & Clank, and The Show)

So.. The PS4 had 2 more exlcusives that sold well in 2016.. compared to the X1..     That really is a big difference?

Holy smokes! I didn't know it was like that! That's a huge gap of games.

That's because the Internet is a stream of misinformation. Nobody's even bothered to fact check when it's become easier than ever, and often times the opinions you find yourself immersed in from various forums are largely disconnected from the real world/reality.

An easy example of that would be with call of duty. You'll be hard pressed to find someone that admits they like the franchise, and yet guess which franchise is one of the best selling of all time.... Another one would be the notion that both HD twins share most of the same library. That's disingenuous and not true.

One thing the Internet has gotten right though? Dear lord, the Witcher 3 is gotg ._.

As a generalization (that most games are MP) it's acceptable, as an argument on why the console with less games is better it's quite crazy.

Unless you buy 400 games a year 4 exclusives is quite more than 1% to have the share be 99%.

Hum :) Yes... Actually that could be it.

The Scorpio will probably be a bit bigger and consume more power; after all that's in hardware category!

Ok ok ok. You are absolutely welcome to tally up the list or find an objectively better one, I would welcome it actually. As it stands right now though, both my sources are straight from the platform holder. I would like to see where there are hundreds of bundles on the Ps4 store though. Also why would arcade games be off the table? Because by that standard, so should all Remasters as well which would then include things like gears of war ultimate edition, halo mcc, castle crashers remastered... And so on.
