Forums - Gaming - Hironobu Sakaguchi and Shuhei Yoshida pick FFXV as their GOTY

To me it feels like something is missing from it, the main Story almost seems rushed as if like they had their idea of what they wanted from the story but didn't have time to really go into detail with it. And also to me, it doesn't really feel like a final fantasy game, I can't put my finger on why it doesn't, it could possibly be because it's a full open world game and past FF aren't really this open and are a lot more story driven.
However I did really enjoy the game despite my comments and I'd give it 85/100

The saddest part is how many votes pokemon go got...

Especially when compared to S/M

Yeah, it's pretty sad. Go is a joke compared to Sun and Moon. Hell, Go is a joke compared to ANY main series Pokémon game ever.

As for the topic... This year had so many great games to choose from that picking a very expensive early access as GOTY is a bit of a waste.

I call it my most incomplete game of the year.

If I had to pick game of the year this year, I say ask again next year, because this year was meh.

When I say incomplete game of the year, I do mean something that can deserve game of the year if it was complete.

Yoshida should've forgotten about bias claims and just picked his real GOTY TLG.

FFXV's dungeons are awful, the open world is there for the sake of being there and has amauter design (picking up frogs for a side quest, REALLY?), there are only ~3-4 memorable sequences story-wise, combat is fun against some enemies but super boring against others, every damn character is underutilized, and I could go on. Tales of Zesteria was a better JRPG, for example. And i'm sure Berseria will be as well.

I still plan on waiting a year to get it when it has all the add-ons in a "Complete" version.

Hard for me to say my GotY, but Uncharted 4 and The Last Guardian were amazing experiences.

I disagree, i think FFXI and FFX are GOTY of all time.
