Forums - General - Iconic Star Wars Actress Carrie Fisher Dies at 60 - Update: Mother, actress Debbie Reynolds dies at 84

there's been a lot of "big" celebrity deaths this year and while they're all sad you sort of forget about it fast but then you sometimes get the ones that really hit you abit more and have you thinking about it and how you're actually quite sad, this and David Bowie have had that affect on me.

As for the the person talking about Star Wars VIII, I doubt she was going to play a major part in it, maybe similar to what she did in VII so while it will change something it won't be too drastic to the movie. I'm sure there will now be some sort of tribute in there though.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Iconic deaths will only get worse with every new year. It's something that we'll have to deal with. A few decades from now there will be an icon dying almost every day. That's the result of the increased recorded history of the past century and especially the past few decades. 100 years ago famous people weren't quite as famous. They didn't have the kind of technology that we have now that can reach people on a much more personal level (like radio, TV or the internet). It was people like writers or athletes then but nowadays it's all of that plus so much more.

Crap, rest in peace

News from 2040-something: Iconic internet fuckwit DarksydePhil dies at 60, blames lag.

OT: IANAD but I'm pretty sure it was all the drugs that killed her, not the calendar.

I remember dressing up as Leia (the hair and all) as loved the character. Know she had a hard life, sorry to see her go so soon.

Wow what terrible news to come home to, RIP. Was actually considering on watching Episode IV this morning too for a totally unrelated reason.

And I was going to meet her less than two weeks from now. Carrie, thanks for your services in the movie industry.

She was probably going to be a part of Episode VIII, it will be a bitter taste to see what they do about it.

Apparently filming on that movie is already over, so whatever part she had in it is probably done. Still...

Oh... that will be a hard watch... =(

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.
