The Witcher 3 has more soul than most JRPG i've played, the world and quests are amazing, they feel alive. Unfortunately, that was something I noticed with FFXV, the world didn't feel that alive.

I agree with this thread though, that the Witcher 3 combat was eh.

i gurantee you people will talk more about FFXV in 10 years than the Witcher 3, just like one talks about the Witcher 1 and 2 while many people still talk about FXIII and FFXII today

I don't see many people talk about FFXII these days, and the only reason FFXIII is usually mentioned is due to how terrible a game it was.

Lmao what? No one talks about FFXII and people talk about FFXIII because it's a shit game. So I'm not sure how that's proving your point.

And as someone whose played both FFXV and The Witcher 3, and whose a fan of Final Fantasy and JRPG, The Witcher 3 is a better game. FFXV was disappointing as fuck because I expected a story, yet there wasn't one there. And honestly, even then I was excited for the world but that felt empty. The best thing about FFXV were the dungeons.

And even though I've played FFXV more recently and The Witcher 3 over 9 months ago, I'm still thinking about how beautiful and world was and how engaging the quests were. The quests in FFXV......so meh. A perfect example of a game that didn't need to go open world.

And I don't understand why critics are so permissive with bad combat systems, one of the best examples is Shadow of Mordor, how did that game got such high praise with such a completely broken combat system? Is ridiculously bad and you spend most of the time doing it, I'll never understand it.

Beats me.

Ass Creed got away with it for the longest time.

FF was always open world that was the vision since it was made, i doubt youre a FF fan. There was no story in the Witcher 3, you can do alot more in FFXV than in the Witcher 3 this is a fact.

Maybe western studios make some good and some bad games, and Japanese studios make some good and some bad games.

Which is pretty good, since people are different and actually like different things. There are no objective 10's out there.

Possibly, maybe, perhaps.

Yet its more mentioned and more subconsciously present than both Witcher games for gamers today. Why is it?

Maybe due to the fact that there have been 3 witcher games now, how many FF games have been released? FF has a much bigger brand name and is obviously going to be more widely known worldwide.Everything ive heard about FFXV indicates that Witcher 3 has a lot more to do in its world, is more alive and has more consequences for your actions. If you can find these so called facts you speak of then please prove me wrong.

I'm pondering this one myself

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Good luck getting through something like Metal Gear Rising or Devil May Cry by just mashing buttons.

O/T: I think this is more of a divide in genre than countries. Take away the hack and slash genre, and sword/melee combat in Japanese games isn't exactly deep either. Stuff like Zelda and FFXV have pretty simplistic combat systems. It's more of hack and slash titles really only being made by Japanese devs currently, which is kind of a disappointment.

That's exactly how I finished MGR - by button mashing my way through it.

Then I seriously feel bad for whatever button you used to reload checkpoints.
