yet its a Japanese company, Fromsoftware mastering even that style. I think you genralize Dynasty Warriors for everything from japan

Why would you put the mechanics of a heavy action game into The Witcher 3?

A better comparison would be God of War, and we all know what the majority of people of those series, so Western development can produce excellent combat systems just as in Japan.. Right now, however, I can't remember any other hack n' slash produced in the West, but that just speaks for the preferences that prevail here, which do not mean the stuff created here pales in comparison to Japanese games, it's just different and plays its own thing.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Western games have no soul good that a lot more people realize it

I will never get your loathing  for Western studios and games.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

The Witcher 3 has more soul than most JRPG i've played, the world and quests are amazing, they feel alive. Unfortunately, that was something I noticed with FFXV, the world didn't feel that alive.

I agree with this thread though, that the Witcher 3 combat was eh.

Good luck getting through something like Metal Gear Rising or Devil May Cry by just mashing buttons.

O/T: I think this is more of a divide in genre than countries. Take away the hack and slash genre, and sword/melee combat in Japanese games isn't exactly deep either. Stuff like Zelda and FFXV have pretty simplistic combat systems. It's more of hack and slash titles really only being made by Japanese devs currently, which is kind of a disappointment.

That's exactly how I finished MGR - by button mashing my way through it.

i gurantee you people will talk more about FFXV in 10 years than the Witcher 3, just like one talks about the Witcher 1 and 2 while many people still talk about FXIII and FFXII today

Why are you comparing a hack n' slash action RPG game to story driven traditional WRPGs? You might as well say that playing Witcher 3 makes you feel sad for the sad state of story and character development in Japanese action RPGs.
