It's interesting to see that despite the worldwide sales of the 3DS, it still manages to outsell the all time best selling home console in Japan and top the GBA and PSP. There still is a place for handhelds.

For some people the only comparison that counts, it's with its predecessor... hah Which is also a very fair comparison....

it also beats GB and GBC...

You may wonder why I'm separating them.

Unlike New 3ds and old 3ds, gbc has a vast game library not compatible ( like Pokemon silver/gold )  with gb and gbc came nine years after GB.... It's two gen handheld console.

Nintendo combines their sales either because gbc wasn't a massive technological leap over GB or they wanted to boast about  having a product that passed 100m sales...

Technically yes, GB, GBC and GBA roughly sold between 15-17 million units while the DS/3DS line has sold much more with vastly smaller exculsive libraries on DSi and new 3DS.
