uhm .. did anyone already mention the possibility, that Sony didn't ship the million that was preordered by the shops, but only half of that and the other half is ariving this or the next week? (I didn't bother to read the whole thread)

Sony can only gain from such a tactic, for they get more money from the downloadable version, so impatient people might dl it instead of buying the BR version, if it isn't immidiatly available to them at shops.

The whole pre-order count is mostly marketing hype. If you were to look at the orders for the Wii, it would probably be in the millions because of the time between ordering and shipment.

Wild guess they underestimated how many people wanted the Br version, and now i know why US release is two weeks later.

Well it looks like this title will be a success anyway for Sony, it is looking to sell more than the GT4P (when all numbers are combined and it is given time to sell) on a much smaller userbase!

This could be down to the lack of AAA games at the moment, or down to the sheer popularity of the GT franchise... Which remains to be seen! I think a combo of the 2 is likely!

For a single week worldwide sales first place goes actually to Assasin's Creed (437k) and the second for CoD4 (407k). Gran Turismo 5 pro is on third place for a single week sales (377k in Japan and Others last week). Devil May Cry is actually lower becouse it was released at different week in Japan than USA/Europe.

The other way of looking on this is to add first week sales from each region (even if a title was released at different weeks in each region) than DMC4 really is number 1. The list would look like this:
1. devil may cry 4 535k
2. gran turismo 5 prologue 484k
3. assasin's creed 469k
4. call of duty 4 439k
5. pro evolution soccer 2008 426k
Note that CoD4 and AC have higher numbers thanks to Japanese releases. DMC4 and GT5P will probably switch places when GT5P is released in NA.

It can also be noted that GT5P 375k is the best result for a PS3 game in a single region (ahead of PES 2008 in Europe - 273k and Madden 08 in NA - 245k).

Anyone who was expecting 1 Million on day one was a fool being that it would make GT5:Prologue the #6 best selling game in Europe for the PS3 with the other 5 games having been available for quite awhile, and with a few of them being bundled.

I think that when the numbers for GT5P come in for the US (when it is released in 2 weeks) i would imagine that it will take the top-spot from DMC4 for being the best selling PS3 game released so far!

This will be shortlived though as i'm sure GTA4 and MGS4 will trump this in just one region for the week :D

we are already at 600k whit hapan next week we might reach 750k then the week after that it will relessse in NA probly anather 350k first day and 150k the week after

that makes 1.5m the game will be bundeld right? add 1 million ps3s sold lets see we are selling about 2m system every 3 months! will half of those system be the 40g bundeld whit gt5? maby

ps3 selling 2m systems every 3 months only system out till the mgs4 bundelin 3 months is the 40g! not sure if its just in NA and in others tho? dose others have anattdher choice other than the 40g whit gt5? iunno let me know ims till a nub cake :(
