Why? Who cares about the Wii U version of Minecraft Story Mode?

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I am guessing there was no pre-orders and a small shipment like everything Nintendo does. So scalpers are taking advantage.

But who's going to buy it from them? Who's been claimoring for this game on Wii U?

To be fair, I highly doubt Nintendo decided on the low distribution of a game they neither developed or published. There just isn't much of a market for the umpteenth version of a Telltale game that has been widely available on other devices since the first episode. Why waste the money pumping extra copies out into the wild? Anyone who doesn't want to buy the Wii U version should just buy it on their PC or phone or digitally on any other existing console to save the hassle of dealing with a Telltale physical release that is basically just an authorization code to download the episodes anyways.

Why would anyone spend that much money on this game? It's available on many different platforms already. People should just buy it elsewhere.

Well they know there is a market for Minecraft. I am flabbergasted that they did not go with a decent 10,000 copy shipment. This is not Devils third. This is Minecraft.

No, this is Minecraft: Story Mode. It's alright, but it isn't exactly Minecraft. It's a half decent story tossed together using Minecraft assets. I mean, this game has only pushed about 2.4 million sales across five devices in the better part of two years (which is basically par for Telltale releases), if the Chartz numbers are even remotely accurate. In comparison, Minecraft has pushed nearly 2 million sales on the Vita alone, not even counting the consoles that sold millions more a piece.

So yeah, it may be Minecraft, but you gravely overestimate how much that helped this game. It basically just sold because it's a Telltale game and a decent number of people are partial to their releases.

MSRP is 100 dollars?

Only one copy is 28.99, and that is because the guy in Peru probably has not woke up yet or something.

Get it on Target.com while you still can!

Oh I assumed that sellers were jacking up the price.

Let me change the question. Why would anyone pay $100 when the game is far far cheaper on 9 other devices?

why would anyone pay $300 for the NES Mini if emulating the games is much cheaper?

People don't have logic

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

To be fair, a lot of people don't support emulation, even if it's of games that are no longer sold in a capacity that benefit anybody but third parties, and at ridiculously high prices for more coveted releases that nobody should have to pay simply to try a 30 year old game. I get not supporting piracy, but at a certain point, you have to question what you're against: is it a fight against those that would prevent a company from profiting, or is it a defense of IP no matter the circumstances surrounding the item (no longer in production, limited runs, etc.)?

That conversation is neither here nor there though. Best to keep this topic about Minecraft: Story Mode's Wii U release.

Here in australia it will cost $70, which is the expensive one out of all the platforms. But it says the "complete edition"?

Hopefully it does get cheaper so I could buy it for my brother.

"Complete" likely just means that whole game is actually on the disc. Pretty much all of the other releases were a "season pass" disc that included the first episode and a code to download all the other episodes as they released, a smart but annoying business model that gets Telltale releases on shelves as early as possible. I think Minecraft: Story Mode may have been the first time they did a season pass physical disc release.
