Forums - Gaming Discussion - My plan to make Xbox Great Again!

is this a good plan

yeah 19 27.94%

no 38 55.88%

maybe 11 16.18%

Total:68

Coming from a point of outsider ignorance - I 100% honest to God never understood what MS did to inspire their fanbase devotion, outside Gears / Halo & inventing cheevos - I can only assume any fix would cost a ton of money.

Just buy PS and burn it to the ground.

Done.

That still wouldn't make it great,  unless all sony ips and their way of thinking are adopted.

No, kill PS. Therefore Xbox is great.

I want Alan Wake 2, and some brand new IPs would be great too.

Halo 6 with proper local multiplayer is a must.

Also - the Xbox Surface 1. Give me the Xbox One in the Surface form factor and some basic laptop functions and you may have a Nintendo Switch killer. It would be like having a gaming laptop -but without so much bulk and excess cost.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

If Microsoft's millions upon millions upon miilions of advertising promotions and buyouts couldn't do the trick, what makes you think you can?

Because I have the vision. I will not waste it on Kinect, ROTR, NFL or Titanfall deals. I'll restore Rare to its former glory, rebuild Microsoft's 1st party studios and make better 3rd party deals.

I'd vote for you

Well, outside Halo, Gears and achievements, there are plenty of things you can see why people would like them if you give it a bit of thought. I wouldn't use the word "devotion", because "devotion" kinda has negative connotion whether it comes from the MS fanbase or the Sony/Nintendo one (talking about videogame consoles), but things that people would enjoy from MS and its consoles (circa end of the life of OG Xbox and the Xbox 360 being born, can't talk about the current situation) was the push forward and popularization of working and stable online ecosystems, the initial embrace of indie developers and games in both the Arcade and Indie stores, the popularization (alongside Sony) of HD consoles, being a cheaper and seemingly fine alternative to the ultra expensive PS3, and the strong marketing, deals and arrangements that brought games and more games in what seemed like a non-stop current of it.

Achievements were an extention of said ecosystem created, whereas Halo and Gears, particulary the former, was the push for indentifying the brand with a popular game icon, not unlike Nintendo and Mario; which definitively worked if you see the sales of the original Halo trilogy. You take all these things in consideration and it doesn't seem crazy at all that such company would manage to create a huge fanbase, with, sure, its ultra-devoted section of it.

Phil Spencer has continuously said that he wants to invest in new ips and bring back old titles. There are still couple games in development from the Don Mattrick era. Just be patient because making great games takes time.

The remasters of the OG Xbox games would be awesome, would love to see Brute Force making a come back too but I think it might be slightly too close to Gears, perhaps some form of Crossover game.

Edit - While the OP basically reads like a wet dream more than a reality though Turkish how would you feel if all of those things happened, but they were also available on Windows10, would that still make Xbox Great again?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I was with you until Blinx. Because Knack needed the competition or something? Also, throw a new Crimson Skies in there.

I don't see devotion being a bad word - perhaps brand loyalty is better? The guys I work with mostly play on Xbox, and it's almost funny how intense they get when the 'what do you play on' question is asked. Popularizing indies is definitely something I can understand and appreciate, but I ftigure that's a non-factor considering indies have gone out of favor with many. Being the first with widespread online play also makes some sense, it seems like a zeitgeist similar to Wii motion controls, MS had the right ideas at the right moment.
