Batman: Return to Arkham Gets PS4 Pro Patch

Yet another game has been patched for the PS4 Pro.

Warner Bros. has released a new patch for Batman: Return to Arkham that adds support for the recently launched PlayStation 4 Pro console. As outlined in a forum post (via VideoGamer.com) the update delivers unspecified "visual upgrades," in addition to a number of "performance and stability improvements."

Here is a breakdown of those other improvements:

  • Performance / hitching issues have been improved for a more smooth and consistent framerate.
  • Intermittent crashing issues have been addressed to provide improved gameplay stability.

Your mileage may vary, but someone on Reddit claims this new patch, 1.02, is actually making the game run worse in some ways. Read the post here to learn more.

It had undocumented Pro support to some extent prior to this update. Pro consistently had higher frame rate than the standard PS4. They just didn't advertise or tell anyone about it.

Dear lord I hope that isn't just a ps4pro improvement, imagine a world where only the pro versions are fixed to not "intermittently crash"

There's another one to the list. Keep them coming!

But apparently this is still a bad port.

It's really sad when the PS4 Pro isn't running a game significantly better than on the PS3/360...

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Well good (and maybe bad). Currently in heavy rotation on my PS4 Pro. I'll check it out later on today.

Power sadly can never insure a good port, the PC release of Arkham Knight proved that WB just do not spend enough time on games before releasing them, if this port is poor I would very much look at them and not the hardware at play here as the cause of it.

Yeah, same esy the Base PS4/XB1 couldnt run it significantly better.7th gen hardware more powerful than 8th gen hardware confirmed.

Interested to see how this Pro pans out in the future.
I'm sure 1st party will be great, but 3rd party, I can see one of two things happening in the future.

1. The pro becomes the main developed system and the normal ps4 then runs like crap.
2. The pro becomes a quick up-port and runs like crap. (you know like how pc games gets shitty ports)

If the Scorpio is far enough ahead of the Pro, Sony will really be in a weird bind. Your going to have devs wanting to make the most graphically advanced games they can, meaning for the Scorpio. Obviously they will want to port to ps4 for the user base size. But curious how much effort. Maybe you guys will finally experience what Nintendo fans experience. A crappy port. Be careful. If you don't buy those crappy ports, the companies assume that means you don't like that game and don't port anymore to your system. Cause clearly the reason you didn't buy a game is because you don't like the game, not because the game is a shitty port with bugs/missing stuff/ect.
