They had exclusivity deals with Sony, and the Gamecube was 5 millions against 20-22 millions on Japan.  20 Millions against 100+ millions worldwide.

"Even the Lowest Final Fantasy Main game after the Nintendo Era, sold more than 1.5 Millions in the First Week, so No Way a Huge System Seller on Japan will lose for a Game that "Exceed Expactations" this is not Enought, and you are Saying like the Generation is Over, when still not released games like Street Fighter, Tekken, the new Main game of Dragon Quest, Persona, Resident Evil,  and a lot of Other games that will Potentially sell well on Japan, and Hight Anticipated ones like Shenmue 3, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, i think that even Dissidia Final Fantasy, broke the 1 Million Mark last time (Only on Japan).

Final Fantasy, is one of the Biggest Franchises in Japan, and the Day that it Fall, the Entire Home Console Market on Japan, Will Fall together."

This is what you said in Splatoon vs FFXV sales thread. I hope 2 million customers who bought FFXV in Japan enjoy it LOL. And also, Street Fighter V, not even sold out it first shippment which is 2 mil yet. The last NPD thread SFV only sold 100.000 LOL

You  seems like a Stalker and should stop with that, a simple "You said this:" would be better than  searching my comments on a thread 10 years old.

I made that prediction without seeing the COMG thread and I expected it to outsell FFXIII. We still need to wait for the next weeks and see if this game will be able to break 1 million at retail. FFXIII, before Splatoon, was the only game that was able to sell more than 1 million on Japanese home consoles within a year. If it drops below than that, so we have a problem.

The good thing is that they can build a increase on sales in the next games. FF7 Remake and FFXV can start to bring more fans for the franchise. The western sales still pretty strong.

Nintendo needs to make a console with the power of atleast the Xbox One/PS4 in order to get a Final Fantasy port. I don't think that Square will make another mainline game this gen since they have Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy 7 remake to release before that. So, if the Switch isn't strong enough to handle those games, they will have another chance in the next 4-6 years(when FFXVI launchs) to release a new console with enough power.

Don't forget that even the Xbox One and the PS4 was already having problems  to run FFXV.

_____

So, there're almost 400k still on shelves.
The worst thing is that first 3 days sell-through was reported to be ~60% (640k sales). That means that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, FFXV only managed to sell extra 50k units. That's terrible, and second week drop might be huge.

Good thing FFXV is the highest digitally sold console game of all time in Japan,  with the rise of digital sales especially on the consoles i don't know why they shipped so much.  It was obvious by the pre orders that things weren't looking so hot.

I think FF16 by the way will have a considerably lower budget and a different focus now. Might be better for the franchise anyway.

Right now what I would like to see is, what I would like to see is Japanese developers rally around Nintendo. If the Switch can handle ports of PS4/XB1 games, and it's starting to look like that is indeed the case, then there should be no excuse to not support it.

All I'm asking for is for them to drop the stupid "wait and see" attitude, no system would be successful with that attitude from developers except a Nintendo system only because of herculean efforts from Nintendo from time to time. But you can't expect that every time.

So I'd just like that one qualifier for support to be dropped. No more "wait and see" bullshit. Japanese developers should recoginize that a successful Switch platform is not only good for them but neccessary for them.

Not only that but supporting a system strongly early on can then build the software ecosystem for the types of games that Japanese developers like to make.

So FF7, Kingdom Heart 3, Soul Calibur VI, Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite, Resident Evil 7 ... these games should be on Switch.

It is the rightful successor to the 3DS and as such the heir to the throne of the Japanese market, if the hardware power is there (even if it requires some grunt work), it should be treated as a central platform.

Besides, if you're a Japanese developers and you're too dumb to recognize a portable Nintendo system that has Pokemon, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, Dragon Quest XI, and Monster Hunter XX on it probably is something you should take seriously, then really you shouldn't be in this business. This is not like some iffy/dicey proposition, this is much of a slam dunk sure thing as there's going to be in the Japanese market of today.

And granted it's possible Japanese developers are already on the right wave length anyway. DQXI and Dark Souls III already apparently en route bodes well.

It wouldn't be the first time FF has shifted focus from a previous game mind you, XII did it, graphically X was better than XII and I think it had a bigger budget as well.

"My Predictions are 3+ Millions of Life Time Sales for Final Fantasy XV, on Japan"

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=7679870

"Final Fantasy, Doing Less than Splatoon, is a Gigantic Floop and the Dead of the Console Gaming on Japan."

"So put it in Mind, a Final Fantasy Flop in Japan, and is the End of the Japanese Console Market."

He should know that the PS4 will be the last "console" in Japan (until PS5 releases). The Switch is a home console and a handheld.

It's the strawman that everybody who doesn't agree with the OP runs back to. It's like their security blanket or something.

Look at Intrisic's latest reply to me. I said the PS2 Final Fantasy games would have worked on Gamecube just fine, and what does he do? Talk about how FF7 would have never worked on N64.

Ironically Angel Studios wanted to bring FFVII to N64 but Square Enix refused.  So they approached Capcom about an RE2 port.

Didn't know that. Don't fathom how it would have ever worked though. The largest N64 cart was 1/10th the size of a PlayStation disc.

Getting back to modern day, the standard size of a Switch card may be smaller than the capacity of a PS4 disc (which is 50GB), but it ain't 1/10th. I'd imagine optimizing compression for the Switch with modern standards and techniques is far easier than it was doing so for the N64 two decades ago. FFXV's file size on PS4 is 40GB. I'd imagine that it wouldn't be a gargantuan feat to shave off 8GB somewhere to get it on a 32GB card.
