Pokemon....i used to loathe the series when it came out....but now...its very comforting that its keeping turn based gaming alive! I'm a fan even though I rarely play it.

Pokemon, so no. Not at all. Why would you even ask this question? Because FF15?

The answer is no. Pokemon, Persona, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem, maybe?
Tho they really have diminished in number in home consoles due to the success of western rpgs not being turn-based.

Pokemon is the really only one that mainstream....the rest are nice...but don't sell as much as Call of duty or other genres....

since pokemon is the only one and its mobile...i think were not gonna see it anywhere else....

And a LOT of dungeon crawlers are turned based as well.

I don't really think Pokemon of Call of Duty games should be the bar to measure this, because those are the most sold games in the world.
Neither do I think we should compare what comes for portable to what comes for Home Console. Different markets. Turn based rpgs seem to have found a better place in portables.

What is true is that several turn based or mixed-turn based rpgs franchises that used to come for home consoles have dissapeard, like Suikoden, Breath of Fire, Front Mission, Grandia, and another bunch of ps2 games that I cant remember.

And we can read here the whole problem in your thread. You're trying to compare the sales of turn based RPGs to Call of Duty? Really?

Other games or genres became really popular in the last 10-15 years and sell a lot, it doesn't mean that all other genres are dead. Just keep some balance in your comparisons!

As far as AAA's go, I'd say yeah. Dragon Age: Inqusition had it's turn based tactical mode, but barely anyone used it so I doubt Bioware will put into the next DA game. Square Enix is moving FF away from turn based. But, while AAA turn based is dying, it lives on in the AA tier, plenty of the more niche AA JRPG's are still turn based, as are a few AA WRPG series such as Wasteland and Divinity:Original Sin.

If you look at it a certain way (other than Pokemon) the Final Fantasy series was the only truely big selling title that had it to begin with. I also wouldn't claim SquEnix are removing it from FF as we've had 1 game without the ATB in the series and only because they made what was meant to be a more action orientated spin-off into the main series title because they wasted so much time and effort on it. I'd say if it was still called FFvs13 it wouldn't have sold as well either. We don't know what SquEnix will really do with the series until they show and announce FF16.... but that won't be until 2024.... you know, because SquEnix.

Also, add X-Com to your list of turn based stuff.

Hmm, pie.

Apparently the obvious answer is no, but there still seems to be a shortage of them.
