Forums - Sony - Did Sony Doom the PSVR?

plenty of stock here lol I just don't think anyone is really that interested in it. I haven't really heard any of my friends talk about it, I was the only one that was interested in getting one and even that has kind of changed as I feel like support will die for it after 2017 and ill have another ps move situation xD

That's a massive failure as far as the supply/restocking is concerned.

Superdata is filled with laughable analysts that don't seem to know shit. They slashed every single VR forcast they made several times. They have zero idea what the customers want and how certain products is going to sell considering how horrible their VR predictions have been.

Zero reason to take their word on anything imo. Like I said a few months ago when they did make their prediction for PSVR, don't trust these idiots.

Yep, Sony predicts 1M is the most they can sell, then Superdata says 2.6M and after not getting close to it they blame sony for their lack of knowledge.

No Sony hasn't doomed the PSVR, this is super data trying to save face from their earlier and unreasonable prediction of 2.6 million. They also had to lower the forecast because they evidently realized this. Supply and demand both seem to be strong this season around Portland, OR this holiday for anecdotal evidence.

Yep. Even worse is at the same time saying there isn't PSVR sets available for purchase and indicate that Sony needs to invest more on marketing.

Quite a lot of stock here too. I've seen a lot of headsets avalible on my regular stores, and quite a decent amount of them on used goods stores. This kind of tech needed a Wii Sports kind of game to push it, and I don't think there is something of the sort at this moment.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

It's too early to tell. Some say sold out (which means nothing without knowing actual numbers), some say it's easily available.
No matter what, I think if 5% buy one, they can be happy. It's way too niche and hard to sell without letting people try it first.

With all due respect this is just an estimation... which by the way is more than the competition combined a few times over... in a fraction of the time. So this is obviously a success. Can we have some perspective here.

No. The market just don't care.

But for perspective the competition failed almost completely and was was higher in price.

It still is an achievement but in total numbers can still be disappointing.

I'm just waiting for any kind of a deal.

Umm... it not really that niche.  750k is really good considering it was $400-500 just to get.  And its only been out for less than two months.  I agree with you that 5% would be incredible for new tech like this but I think it will be closer to 15% by then end of the gen.  And 15 million or so units is actually more than even VITA so its looking quite good.   Is Sony even capable of producing 26 million headset before years end?  When I got one from GameStop they only had 15 with no idea on when it would be restocked.   Amazon is sold out constantly.  So is GameStop:

If you are in the US try your zip code.  All are low stock if you can find them.  There really aren't that many out there to buy.  Meaning that Sony didn't ship anywhere near what Super Data 'estimated'.  I.. I don't know where they came up with that number... or even the 750k lol.

But I defy anyone to explain how 750k in just over a month is a failure.
