Forums - Sony - Did Sony Doom the PSVR?

I smell very weird analysis.

If the product is missing in shelves why would Sony invest millions in marketing to sell more?

They cut the price to 334,- in some stores, didnt sell out, the VR unit has been stocked in every store that sells it, sure, some people picked it up, but here in europe, its not being sold increadibly well, like the ps4 or ps4 pro or nintendo 3ds, which all top it.

The main reason when I read forums from my country seems to be the lack of a true AAA- exclusive VR experience, the maze of cables, and the fact people prefer a PS4Pro over the VR

It's nearly impossible to find in the US. Gamestop, Amazon, Target, Best Buy, Walmart, they're all sold out.

Sony would have easily sold more of them over black friday weekend but they didn't have any to sell.

Edit: It's selling online for upwards of $100 over retail price in the US.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Its deffenitely doing better in the US then, we had some deals here, during BF and CM but now all retailers are around the retail price, but its available in every media markt I visit and in every gamestore online and offline I checked, I cannot say for every country in europe but in Belgium and The Netherlands I know its widely available.

Hell naw, sure you'll get one eventually if you order one, just saying there's no where you can by one right NOW in the UK.

Game, Amazon, Shopto, Zavvi, Curry's, Tesco, PC World, The Hut...... All out of stock.

Maybe they are doing the Nintendo strategy...

That's been a counter-productive strategy for Nintendo. I think Sony is just being cautious with shipments after the initial sell-through.

The problem with this is that I still hear VR owners complain about how the majority of VR games still feel like tech demos and not full fledged games. So until that is solved, VR is not going to take off. Plus, you know, the whole massive price restrictions and selling games to a small fragment of the possible audience.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Superdata is filled with laughable analysts that don't seem to know shit. They slashed every single VR forcast they made several times. They have zero idea what the customers want and how certain products is going to sell considering how horrible their VR predictions have been.

Zero reason to take their word on anything imo. Like I said a few months ago when they did make their prediction for PSVR, don't trust these idiots.

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

No Sony hasn't doomed the PSVR, this is super data trying to save face from their earlier and unreasonable prediction of 2.6 million. They also had to lower the forecast because they evidently realized this. Supply and demand both seem to be strong this season around Portland, OR this holiday for anecdotal evidence.

it was very difficult to aquire one in germany a few weeks ago not sure if been restocked yet and is completely sold out in UK.

How is it doomed if it was sold out for several months? And still is in many places. Production is running and its beyond expectations, they could have easily sold over a million with more stocks available before pre order. Current VR games are being sold for 70€ which many people are considering just Demos. They already made their money back and will continue to make profit.
