Do PS4 players have the most diverse tastes, overall?

It seems a little unfair when you compare the the overall library of the PS4 to mostly Nintendo's 1st party games. If you put it that way, it does look like Sony has a wider range of games. I'd sure like to try more 3rd party games on the Wii U.... if there were more games to it. Generalizing people's tastes to their primary console of choice in itself seems odd.

If we're looking strictly at 1st party games though, I've always had a preference to Nintendo over Sony and MS. I'd happily take 3rd party games as well, if they offered more. More JRPGs on Switch, please?

(Also, can't speak for Xbox though, as I haven't owned any MS consoles)

those are probably not PS core gamers tough

Well no. That's why I think a better dichotomy is experimental/adventurous gamers vs. casually-interested gamers (which make up the vast majority of fans of all systems). That's a lot more relevant to this conversation than Sony vs. Microsoft vs. Nintendo.

what do you mean?

Well, obviously the PlayStation consoles are going to be more diverse when they sell more. I am mainly a PlayStation fan because I grew up with the PS1 and PS2 and still love them dearly.

What you said makes no sense.

OT: You are correct Playstation fans buy Anime,Shooting,Fighting,Roleplay e.t.c while the other competition doesn't. Anyone who says Playstation people are not the most diverse are in denial as its a fact.

I resent people thinking Nintendo has kids games and don't put in the time to really dive into the games they provide. It's like Yoshi's Woolly World, Splatoon, Wind Waker, Kirby, etc. are considered kids' games because of aesthetics or art design when there's so much more than what they show superficially. And if you think that all they have are Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon, then I guess Earthbound, Nintendogs, Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem, Xenoblade, Metroid, Star Fox, Punch Out!, etc. don't matter then.

Anyway, you can't really just point out which console or fan base are more diverse than the other. There are so many opportunities to play new experiences beyond having only one console. I feel like I'm getting more experienced by playing as many games as I can in all the consoles I have, not just one alone. PS doesn't have the type of experiences Nintendo provides and vice versa.

Hm, from a pure video gaming standpoint, I agree.

Edit: Actually, I agree with it in terms of Xbox. I think Nintendo gamers have a pretty diverse interest in every genre of games a swell. Problem is they don't get 3rd party support so they're kind of limited if they only play on Nintendo.

I hold the same opinion. My main problem is that this openess Sony has leads to them becoming the "dump" system where not only good games, but also bad games, are eventually released and some are so awful and anathema to me (otome games for one) that I am actually more put off by them than by the games I actually like. It's what drove me away from the PSVita, a console I used to like to some extent until these games arrived and I felt more and more inclined to sell it to not be associated with it and anything it represents.

In this regard, I actually like the fact my console of choice has a bit less diversity, since it represents an ecosystem to hostile to anything not firmly entrenched already. Sadly, it sometimes ends up moving too far to the otherside and we wind up with missing genres.

As a whole, I believe it'd be a great console if they started using some form of game library control to keep the bad stuff out. It might be the most diverse and gamers who aren't bothered by some games should have little problems with it, but for me, it's sort of the thing that drives me away. I also feel relying on games alone has made Sony lazy on certain fronts and I don't like it one bit as their popularity leads them to have few reasons to become more feature rich (external HD and mouse and keyboard support, unlimited mod support and whatnot... Stuff that befalls on the user's side rather than the publisher). Which leads me to say they appear to be more concerned on company exclusivity and prestigue along with their relation to devs rather than allowing gamers to do as they see fit.

Sorry for the rant, I only wanted to clear that out.

Lol @ nintendo comments

Both playstation and Nintendo have a ridiculous variety of genres to play. Sony simply offers more 'mature' games.

This.

I honestly like all three, though Xbox and Playstation have both had less flavor than in other gens.

I can't see myself buying a ps4 this gen. Exclusives are poor to bad to broken. Online is sketchy. And their fans tend to make threads like this one - thinking they're sophisticated gamers, when actual dexterity and skill is what they lack. What type of hand/eye coordination does a turn based jrpg or movie game require? Not much

Well, these fuckers better support Gravity 2, Nioh, Nier 2, tales...ect. if they want the diversity to continue, many developers & series are having a hard time to survive

For MS & Ninty, i won't touch their shit unless the invest in new IP's/studios, some time you succeed, sometimes you fail, but that's the only way to keep the gamers interested, Halo 17 and Mario 821 can go burn in hell

Well, I was trying to find any party game like wii party U on a sony or MS system. I couldnt find...

BTW, on nintendo side, a single IP can offer a great diversity of games:
Mario is 2d plataformer, 3d plataformer, racing, RPG, sports(a great variety of them), brawler, puzzle, party, etc.
