The trailer got me semi-interested but as soon as I started the game up again I lost all interest. Should have been there from the start. Oh well, at least they're trying.

It could work in that kind of way. you have to buy the base and then you can build around it. if your ship gets too big them you may have to buy additional jets / engines etc.
They have to keep use for the currency or it becomes worthless, especially now that you can mine and farm things.
I'm still not going to go back into this until they add co-op support. imagine if we can play as a vgc club, with our own farms, mining operation and building a big frack off spaceship.
The way they've balanced this game is fantastic. If you're a space explorer you've got the Freighters which are portable base stations, and then you've got your base stations which are suited to those who want to settle down and enjoy the planet for a while. You can now even venture out to the fringes of the galaxy and still just warp back to your very beginnings.
The PS5 Exists.

i'll wait for the No Man's Sky Full Game Edition to come out in 2 years time.
