They'll try to reverse the WiiU experience with Switch U: Actually it's just a new pad (joycon), but everybody will think it's a new console and buy it.

Xavier/volta tegra will have double performance (x2 cores = 3tf 16bit, 1.5tf 32bit) of the pascal/parker tegra. So under the assumption gen1 switch has a 720p screen I do expect a "pro" 1080p Nintablet, maybe as early as holiday '18. .

Then possibly offer that same xavier chip in SCD format, a cheaper upgrade solution, limited to docked mode. I'd guess that would shut off the gpu in the Switch OG tablet, rather than work in tandem like many wished for.

Nintendo has been doing intergenerational upgrades to devices longer and more often than either Sony or Microsoft. In fact, I would argue both of them actually got the idea from the 3DS and of course smart phones. 

This is not 1988 or 1994 anymore. Times are changing, and tech is moving faster than ever. In all honesty, the shift to in gen upgrades is not all that major. We have what I mentioned above, but there are plenty more examples. PS2 had the HDD and the Network Expansions, Xbox 360 had the Wifi Expander, and later models had many advantages over the day one device. PSP went from 32MB of RAM to 64MB to allow background tasks to be performed with a game in the background. 

The only diference now is that they have embraced the fact that this happens, and instead of gimping these revisions inside the generation, now they are championing them. I would much rather have them give me the option to take advantage of die shrinks than just give people a cheaper hardware option. 

As for the Switch, I think upgrades should come every time a die shrink happens. If it is starting at 16nm, then I want a new more powerful and efficient Switch at 10nm, and again at 7nm, and so on, and so forth. 

I love gaming, and I want to have the option for the best Home and Mobile devices on the market. I should not be forced to by non gaming PC's and Smartphones if I want the latest tech. 

At the rate of these upgrade to come out, by the time the Switch comes with an upgrade the PS5 and XB2 will be out.

Two years, no one will buy it every two years, that's crazy.

Microsoft has already said all future xbox games are coming to PC.  I've no concern for an xbox console.  I can't play PS, or Nintendo exclusives on my PC.  I already have Gears of War, Killer Instinct, and Rise of Tomb Raider while it was still under exclisivity.

Doesn't matter all that much what the other camps are doing.  But, now that I think about it, I'm not even sure why I was considering a switch anymore.  But, waiting a year extra isn't so bad.

The chances of a full-handheld version of the switch, smaller screen, no detatchble things and a better battery is one thing I would Love to see, I dont care what they call it

Looking at Switch as anything other than a premium Ninty portable, is doing it wrong.  Contrary to advertising, home dock is the bonus feature of Switch. This product was made for the pokemon generation that's all grown up now.  So all that said - the comparison with MSony has to end now, Ninty has drawn the line for good.

NS defly will get one. Console upgrade is almost kinda like nintendo signature move
