Forums - Nintendo - Wii Warrenty (Why not 15 months to begin with)

So if you don't know my wii died and took zelda with it. So I check my warrenty with nintendo and it says it's void. Then I make a thread asking for suggestions. Euphoria14 tells me to try regeristing the wii with nintendo. So I do it a then the warrenty is back.(It adds 3 months) I don't get it what is the point why not just give you the 15 month warrenty. What is gained with the registration?

It reminds me of when you go to a store and they ask you if you have a discount card, and if you don't they grab one and swipe it for you. Why not just give you the discount to begin with? Whats the point of the card?

"Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist. Especially if you think the moon landing was faked.

You question also has me wondering why car warrentys are 12 months long yet can be extended to 3 years for free. Its crazy but hey there we go.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Easy, they want you to register, so it's an incentive to have you register.

What would be cool, is if they would extend your console by one month for every new game you register. Maybe someday they will do that.  As long as you are buying games, it's in their best interest to keep your console working...

Discount cards allow them to track consumers buying paterns so they know what consumers buy what. Which consumers that buy Pepsi for example buy toilet paper, also what time a week, what time a day. It also alows them to see how much sales affect your buying patter.

For example say you buy coke 90% of the time, but when pepsi is on sale, you buy pepsi...

It offers a great wealth of consumer marketing research.

All this allows stores to know what sales to advertise in it's circulars... which products to put on an end cap, which items to put near to each other and where displays should go within plain site... etc.
