On November 20, 2007, Mass Effect released for the Xbox 360 and changed everything; well at least for me. Was the first game to get me into RPGs, and I've been playing them since! In fact, I'm playing as femshep right now...

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Didn't play it at launch, but got to it later. Such an amazing game. Really hope Andromeda is just as good.

I bought the ME trilogy for 5 bucks like a year ago.

First games story starts out really interesting. But it's gameplay is shit. Pure shit. Unplayable.

ME2 has better gameplay, playable at least. It was fun, I really like and enjoy the universe and lore they have. Though they need to fix and work a lot of gameplay and other elements of the game. Regardless, I am excited for ME Andromeda. And I am getting more hyped for it the more I hear about it.

I will get to ME3 soon and finish it. I just got so much on my plate right now.

Fucking love ME, beat it a couple times. A shame they made the sequel more of an action shooter and less RPG, I could not get into it and thus never played 3 either.

ME3 improves the gameplay significantly, so it should be a far more enjoyable experience.

I like Mass Effect alot, but calling it an RPG is kind of a stretch.

Why would you call Mass Effect an RPG instead of a shooter or an action game? I'm legitimately asking (anyone), cause the game falls into a really gray are for me. The second and third ones I'd say are very firmly in the action game category, but how many RPG elements make an RPG?

Really hard to call it an RPG when it has weak class system boundaries ...

The newest soon to be released Mass Effect: Andromeda isn't even an RPG at all! (According to the information so far.)

I bought ME2 cause i heard it was an rpg, upon playing it i realised that wasn't true 😂

Original is a RPG 2 kinda sort is if you stretch the definition but 3 isn't at all

I remember getting this back in the day for my 360. The memories, really. I must have obsessively played this game then for quite a while. Beaten it four times, two with Paragon Shepard (a shame he never got to level 60, but got stuck at 59), one with Renegade and since I learned that Bioware was planning to give some choices that could eventually lead to the dead of the Commander if you were too careless, I also made a neither-paragon-nor-renegade inept Shepard for a fourth walkthrough, though I eventually only carry on my save files for the first two.

It was a unique soap opera back in the day, with the potential to rival other sci-fi universes, such as Star Trek's or Battlestar Galactica's.

It is weird that the sequels never captivated me as such, despite, honestly, playing much better than the bizarre hybrid that ME1 was (this being said, that's also what made it kind of unique). Beat Mass Effect 2 twice, and then I just kinda beat Mass Effect 3 once, with some halfway through loaded save file for a "second" playthrough.

I definitively agree that among MS's biggest mistakes in regards to gaming was passing through the chance of buying Bioware. Just picture for a second things like Mass Effect and Dragon Age exclusive to them, plus Knights of the Old Republic could have taken a different direction than MMORPG.
