Again thats 48 million people that didnt think the WiiU was worth it for those franchises.

Also 48m people that thought the 3DS library justified not getting a Wii U. Switch solves that, it will get Wii U + 3DS + new games in 2017, and probably new games only going forward. 3DS ate some Wii U sales. Smash, MK, 2D Mario, 3D Mario, Zelda, and others came out earlier on the 3DS and were cheaper than on Wii U. With the Switch, that can't happen. Handheld and home console library will be in one system only.

Also, 3DS userbase is more like 40m if you ask me. There's a lot of people that owned multiple 3DS systems.

Probably a lot less than 40m.  Units-sold for an older system are usually way ahead of active user base totals.  It's not just about replacement units or collectors versions, it's also people who are no longer invested in the ecosystem.  All systems have drop-off.

I think we'll also see households that bought/would buy multiple handheld consoles for multiple children only buy one Switch because of the price tag.

And just because a few butthurt, over entilted internet nerds dont like it, doesnt mean its wrong

Yeah. Those poor internet nerds who bough the Wii U. Let's release them the same games over and over. In any case, what's the worse that can happen? Sell half of the Wii U?

Even still, Zorg has a point. Sony pretty much got a free pass for PS4 ports of The Last of Us and God of War 3.

They didn't. Ask sony fans and see how much people complained.

Ya Wii U sales amount to about less than 20% of Nintendo hardware sold this generation and is the worst selling console they have ever released, they should totally cater to those people.

People complained yet TLOU sold over 4 million on PS4, like i said over entilted internet nerds are the ones complainimg.

Kinda says it all about how much Nintendo cares about their core fans, huh?

Who cares?

People who want new games. You might just want a WiiU 2.0, but I dont see the reason for that.

Exactly my point.Taking out the third party title, that the Switch will obviously have(they simply havent been announced yet), the Switch exclusives simply look and seem better. The Wii had TP and Wii Sports as the great titles(with maybe one or another title) with TP being a crossplatform title.and the Wii U had NSMBU and Zombie U.So so far, The Switch seem far better, and that is not even the full lineup.

Hmm? This was never about which has the better (subjective) games. Fact is, the current lineup is embarrassingly weak compared to Nintendo's other consoke launch titles.

What?Of course it is all about quality. It dosent matter if you get 50 games on launch. If those 50 games are bad, it will be the same as releasing none.Quantity dosent mean it will have a successful launch, but the number of worthwhile games to play is.And again, that list is not final.Far from it actually. So knowing this, the Switch line up of the first year, and so far launch too, seems really solid and much better than the Wii and the Wii U.And to be quite honest, much better than the PS4 and XOne.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

I want a NSMB port+ at launch if there isn't a new (small N) SMB at launch. If Kart, Brawl and Splatoon are getting re-whatevered then I don't see why 2D Mario can't.

I couldn't care less about Mario Maker, I only mention it because I can see Nintendo take the attitude of "make your own 2d mario with the new Mario Maker port".

There won't be a new SMB at launch when the 3D Mario game is rumored to be a launch title. However, that doesn't rule out a new SMB later in 2017. Meanwhile, the remasters can be viewed as confirmation that those series won't get sequels in 2017.

There would be a reason to be upset about the 2D Mario situation if there is no news on it in January, because right now almost no new Nintendo games have been confirmed. No need to make a fuss about it at the moment, because there will still be plenty of time to rage about it later.

Maybe it'll be a late 2017 launch, even so, the current launch feels a bit like Nintendo is stuffing 3D Mario and Splatoon down people's throat. Kart and Zelda possibly as late as September????

3D Mario at launch and Pikmin towards the end of year. Awful. Maybe they'll add Steel Diver 2 just for lols.

I can't believe I'm seriously considering a Wii-U instead. 90% of Switch's 1st yr and a guaranteed 2D Mario, even has it's own 3D Mario and a Pikmin.

Ok, then what about the Switch owners who didnt own a 3DS. Are they getting Mario Kart 7 and Super Mario 3D World? No, because remastering those for the Switch would actually take some work. Im sure the people who missed out on MK8, Smash and Splatoon will be ok with playing the sequels.

What exactly is your point in this post as it doesn't make much sense because  if some one didn't own a 3DS or a Wii U then the whole line up will be new to them and the games you mentioned are on eShop. :/ Remastering them would take as much work either as someone earliar pointed out because games are often developed with higher resolution assets and then scaled which is why emulators can upscale them to HD.

I dont get your point. MK7 is on the WiiU eshop? Also I meant to say 3D Land.

Big grain of salt

but I would be fine with a Xenoblade X port, though I won't be double dipping if I get hte Wii U one

I meant 3DL not world, that is on the eShop as well, Switch is going to have access to the eShop so would have access to those games eventually, your post doesn't make much sense in what ever it's trying to say because essentially you said Nintendo fans would be stuck with those 5 remasters but 48m of the fans would not have played those games. Your response in what about the mentioned games well those would likely be on eshop for Switch owners so I don't get what you were trying to say here.

Well if they can access the eshop on 3DS and WiiU and play those games on the Switch, then theres no need for the remasters then. Problem solved.
