Forums - Gaming - Very concerned about Nintendo Switch

Seems like a an easy decision for Nintendo. Wii U was such a failure that, even though games like MK and Splatoon sold well, many people who may have been interested couldn't justify the purchase of the console with such little else to offer. These ports all seem to be coming early anyway, it's not as if year 2 or 3 of Switch will be similar.

There will be at least one more Switch exclusive announced for the first year, in addition to Mario, Pikmin 4 and Mario-Rabbids I would guess

I guess everyone has a good point I am just no longer excited about it. I wont be getting it until I beat breath of the wild on Wii U anyway. So if that is indeed delayed by the time I get a switch it should have a lot of new games on it unless it failed already.

Do you like games by Nintendo, Retro, Monolith Soft, Next Level Games, etc.? Don't worry.

Do you like a couple Nintendo IPs but wish the company would emulate Sony and Microsoft? Worry.

Do you hate Nintendo and want it to fail? Why are you reading this?

Every game I hear about coming to switch is an enhanced version of a game... With the exception of Mario. That has me very worried and honestly not excited at all. I am all smahed, karted and splatted out. I played the hell out off all those games. I am incredibly bored of them now. Give me an entirely new one of those games with better graphics and I will be all for it. But I am not buying a new console for just enhanced versions. Furthermore it might be confusing to people when they see a system with a bunch of Wii U games on it. They might think it's just a portable wii u. And bam back to a repeat of the Wii U launch.

New Mario RPG, New Mario 64 style 3D mario, New Zelda breath of the wild.

Enhanced editions of Splatoon, Mario Kart 8, Smash, and even Pokemon Sun & Moon.

That looks alot better than the Start the Wii U had.

Yes I love games by Nintendo. I am just concerned they might be relying to heavily on games I have already played the hell out of.

Well, while I do share some of the worries, I dont share the same belief.Sure there are the ports(and even them we dont know to how extent they are ports more than new games with the content they are adding), but there are already new and exciting games comming to it, Like Mario 3D and Zelda and Pikmin 4.Plus there are the ones that are wild cards, like the Mario crossover RPG, and most definely new games that they will announce. And of course, third party games and eho knows, maybe some other second party stuff.Im very excited for it.

Having said that, I truly hope they stop " leaking" or reporting on this stuff. Its getting a bit out of control and will just spoil all the fun of the reveal.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Also Pikmin 4, Retro Studios game & a new IP are all rumored for the first year as well.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

2 Things on this, why is Nintendo held to a different standard than the other two major console makers? They both have released mostly re-hashes, "Backwards Compatible" games, and sequels. No new IPs. Secondly, their price points are up around $400 at launch, but Nintendo has to keep their console to "Around $250" or it won't sell? What is up with the hypocrisy when it comes to Nintendo vs. Xbox and PS4? I really don't understand it.

That being said, I am getting the exact opposite feeling. People are STOKED for this thing. Just for comparison's sake, the Wii U has been out since 2012, right? Looking at the respective views between the Wii U reveal trailer, and the Nintendo Switch reveal trailer the Nintendo Switch is already ahead of the Wii U trailer by almost 10 million views. There is a lot more interest. Not only that, but there are new IPs coming, there is a new Pokemon, new Zelda, new Pikmin, and sure these other games are just modified and upgraded versions of the Wii U versions. But WHO has played the Wii U versions? And WHO in their right mind doesn't like all of these games? I love them, and still play them from time to time. If I can take them on the go, I may play them ALL of the time, who knows?

But yeah, I think the OP is probably worrying about nothing, this system is looking more and more like Nintendo is all in and like it is going to sell gangbusters when it is finally available to the public.

lol, the Switch is going to have one of the best launch years of all time. Bizarre to hear Wii U owners complaining about the Switches known line up considering they bought a Wii U. And I don't mean that in an insulting way, but the reality is Switch is Nintendo's future. If you like Nintendo games you have nothing to worry about. At worst they'll be a bit heavy handed on the ports, just wait til late 2017 and issue solved ;)

3D Mario is new game, Pikmin 4 is a new game, rumored new Nintendo IP is obviously new games, Retro Project is a new game, Zelda (despite coming on Wii U also) it new games, those are only things we expect but likely there will be more Nintendo games and probably some other 2nd/3rd party exclusive.
