Forums - Nintendo - Nvidia: Porting PS4, Xbox One, and PC games to Nintendo Switch is simple

Regrads power differences between wii u and switch:
Switch will using a custom tegra chip based on x1 or x2.
Benchmarks: Trex 1080p offscreen
Nvidia tegra x1: 120 FPS
Ipad Pro: 163 FPS
unanounced Tegra chip with a codename: 190 FPS (they removed that but it had a benchmark 1-2 weeks ago, google it).
Radeon HD 4850 (Wii U): 150 Fps
HD Radeon 7870 (ps4): 533 FPS

https://gfxbench.com/result.jsp?benchmark=gfx40&test=547&text-filter=&order=median&ff-desktop=true&ff-lmobile=true&ff-smobile=true&os-Android_gl=true&os-custom_gl=true&os-iOS_gl=true&os-iOS_metal=true&os-Linux_gl=true&os-OS_X_gl=true&os-OS_X_metal=true&os-Windows_dx=true&os-Windows_gl=true&pu-dGPU=true&pu-iGPU=true&pu-GPU=true&arch-ARM=true&base=device

We wont see true 8th gen games on the switch.

What? The Wii U's GPU is absolutely in no way comparable to an HD 4850, not even close to it. Even when assuming it's ~350GFLOPS of power, the closest performing GPU with the same architecture is the HD 4650, which scores about 75FPS in that benchmark. In actuality, the GPU is 176GFLOPS, much weaker than an HD 4650.

It's ridiculous how you made the comparison to HD 4850 which is an exact 1TF GPU.

It was said on some websites its a 4850 but your right, its more a 4650. The Wii U gpu has 352 gflops btw. Still not much weaker then the x1. Compare to pixel c.

I think the problem isn't porting games to Switch, but the lack of an audience to buy said games

Yeah, literally no one has bought the thing, so who's going to buy the games?!?

Forum begin: The Nintendo Switch will be reasonably powerful, probably 2-3x more powerful than WiiU. Better architecture than the WiiU for porting games.

Forum end: The Nintendo Switch will barely be more poweful than the PS2.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

that sounds very accurate but its still far from xbox one level of performance. Maybe with low details at 720p 25 fps?

thats great news.. even at 720p on a small screen wont even notice. it will look like 8k

yeah totally agree. The iPhone 7s screen (750p on 4,7 inches) looks like 16k so switch should easily look like 8k. maybe 9k. Definitly WAY superior to the awfull ps4 pro 4k. if you hook the ps4 pro to a big tv it looks like 240p, im not joking

Yeah totally agree its not like everybody is bitching about the low res iPhone displays for year, and the cool iPhone 7 XL is finally the first 1080p screen made by apple. iPhone 6 plus, 6s plus and 7plus are all just upsclaed display but not native!!11!1!
