Did the story get better? Because I've always found it very childish. The reason I bought my 3ds was Pokemon and I'm sort of thinking of buying Sun/Moon but only if they hired some proper writers.

I heard good things about it. But don't expect a dark, rated R story, obviously. Pokemon is more about lore, gameplay and world building than anything.

That's good to know. I'll look into it. To be honest, I'm not looking for Persona 4 awesome stroyline but even Yugioh! level would suffice.

I heard from Derrick from GameXplain that he thought the story was a lot better than B/W's story. Which is often considered the Pokemon game with the best story (I didn't like B/W's story but if it's considered the best and most well written Pokemon story, I'd believe it)
