Forums - Gaming - [4K] Watch Dogs 2 runs worst on ps4 pro than ps4 - First Look/Analysis DIgital Foudry

I imagine having to develop for the Pro is extra work some devs might not be too willing to do. Then again, this is UbiSoft we're talking about.

Least its not becoming a trend with the games I actually care about

I'm not a fan of the franchise at all but I think this is more of a dev issue than a hardware issue. If nothing else, I'm sure the game can be run in regular mode. Right?

I think the problem may be the resolution is too high.. 1800p might be pushing it.. AAA titles will have troubles running in 4K but I am assuming if they stuck with 1600p max would have been better choice.. and as for regular mode.. No clue.

You can select the resolution in options on the Pro menu. I assume if you  just "uncheck" certain resolutions the console won't try to run the game in 4k. But I don't know. And I won't ever play this game to find out.

Watch Dog 1 had horrible issues at launch as well, nothing new here.

Afterall its ubisoft, all versions are crappy, but thats how they keep parity.

Is there a 1080p pro mode?

but not in the same resolution, right?
As a 1080p tv owner, im fine with a good performance at 1080p. could all games have the option for 1080p(not 4k downsampled)? running on better FPS

Meh. It's obviously going to struggle at higher resolutions with AAA games. Sony should have joined MS in waiting for 2017 for their hardware refresh. A PS4 slim would have been fine as the lone SKU addition. I guess they felt they needed to rush it out for PS VR, lol.

If this is still happening with titles next year, I'll be disappointed, but a few hitches in the system at launch is to be expected. Devs obviously still haven't had full time with the pro and need to figure out how best to optimize it. I realize it's similar to the ps4 in architecture but there are still enough differences to cause a few launch issues. Considering how good some of the optimizations are already, they'll likely figure it out soon enough.

You honestly think the Scorpio is going to come out without any flaws or launch hiccups?  Keep dreaming.  All consoles have them.  Truth is the Pro wasn't rushed out, the Scorpio is just going to be late to the party.  The point of a mid gen upgrade is to actually get it out mid gen, not a little over a year before we start getting official word about the next gen consoles, possibly only months before we start getting rumors about them.  Sales of the Scorpio would plummet if there are stirrings of a new XB around the corner.  It could possibly be MS's 32x.

Of course, MS may just bypass the mid gen part and just say it's the XB Two.  Though, if they pull that move it'll be incredibly underpowered compared to the PS5 when it finally launches. A system I expect will aim for ~9-10TF.
