Forums - Gaming - We agree that Nintendo is hoarders and scalpers' best friend right?

So many games and hardware they release are sold out so fast many people complain they never had the chance to get one.

Amiibos, Nes mini, limited editions, Gamecube Smash controllers etc we see it too often

But they always seem to be in abundance on Ebay with 1000s of scalpers listing them at premium price.

Nintendo has been doing this artificial scarcity crap for a long time and scalping hoarders know it. It's a win win relation, Nintendo sells out, scalpers make profit on Ebay. Next batches in demand because previous batches sell out so quickly and people are forced to buy asap because it might be sold out.

Man am I glad I didn't buy into the Amiibo craze, how much did you guys spend on it?

They do have a history of limited stock for sure.

I have the Amiibo I want. Got everyone day one except for one that I didn't get until a bit later. It wasn't as hard to get them here in Europe.

NINTENDO! I will get my revenge for the crime of not making enough Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition Bundles! I wanted one and I was willing to pay, dammit! I'LL GET MY REVEENGEEEE!!!

You know it deserves the GOTY.

plot twist: Nintendo actually never sends said rare products to shops and instead hires hundreds of fake scalpers to sell them for them and have a far higher profit.

Here in Switzerland there's still shops with a few of them left. Checked with a retailer and they said they're scheduled to receive 180 units by the end of next week (for all of Switzerland, though).

Only spent the usual 12 dollars on the amiibo

Amiibo were scarce before, but nowadays many of them have been pretty easy to find. Some of the rarer ones have been making a return too. I can't really get upset at limited edition sets, as it fits with the name.

The gamecube adapter thing has been pretty bad though.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHEN THE OOT LINK AMIIBO IS ON SALE???

Unfortunely its a strategy that works(undershipping). So Nintendo will ikeep doing it

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Happens to anything in too high demand.

It is very consumer unfriendly, though the strategy does make sense from a company's viewpoint.

Not planning to get a NES Mini anytime soon, I got all the games on real cartridges. Might buy the controllers though.
I've been buying some Amiibo lately for about 3-4 bucks a piece. That's about as much as I'm willing to pay for it.
