Game 35 - The Legend of Zelda
Complete loneliness. Devastated world. No locks, all free and open to you (except locked doors?). Some of the reasons BotW has me excited: It seems like a true sucessor of The Legend of Zelda. The original was a difficult game in more ways than just "strong enemy". Finding the dungeons (correct dungeons*) was a puzzle in itself; finding the necessary items to enter a dungeon or to beat a dungeon was all a mystery. And having secrets in almost every screen made it all the best. Combat was great for its time; gameplay was not repetitive or predictable (a big complain I have with Zelda these days); a simple adventure. It's this low because, as usual, of hardware limitations.
Game 34 - Pokemon Emerald
In retrospect, I think I should put this much higher, but I just haven't played it in so long. All I remember is that this game came out in the time when I started using the Internet, so I found all these dumb roumors like "Fly over Hoenn 100 times and you will find Deoxys" or "Run around every tree in the region. One will end up with an eye, and if you press a in front of it, Jirachi will appear". Now sure, silly roumors, but I believed them! That's the sense of adventure I remember having in Hoenn. And if you know what it takes to find and meet the Regi Trio, all those roumors won't sound as silly!
So yeah, the Hoenn region would be my favourite (but again, I haven't played it in so long). Even though most complain about all the water, I think it complimented the world very well. There were tons of secrets to find; underwater passages, secret islands, an abandoned ship... It was all very thought out, and I loved it as a kid. The game in itself is also pretty good. Double battles and contests were "meh", but Berries and abilities were a great addition. OST is phenomenal (those trumpets, tho), and the extended (expanded?) story in Emerald was pretty good. Also, Battle Frontier. Also, cloning Pokemon. I regret putting it this low...
