I'm not sure about #39, but you absolutely know #38.

#39. Civilization IV

One of my most played games of all time, and one of the first games I got with my first PC. I fondly remember running out of RAM once I got to the modern age and thinking that I was running out of harddrive space because it told me I was out of memory, good times. While Civ 4 was a lot of fun by itself, where it really shined is with the Beyond the Sword expansion, which added new features and new Civilizations and also the mods that came out. Spent hunderds of hours on the mod Ryse and Fall trying to get the historical victories for each Civ. I think I've played this game to death by now so I'm not sure if I will come back to it in the future but it was great while it lasted and definitely deserves a spot on this list.

Time for my 37-

This game has a lot of 1sts in in. 1st new feature which allows you to slide through thin areas to advance, your 1st companion, the 1st time you meet your brother, and the 1st game to have decent boxart, at least in the US. Along with fighting a usual cast of characters, you also have to fight the ones from the past (sorta), and there's 2 skulls in the end rather than one. Overall, this game was quite filled to the brim compared to its predecessors.

Mega Man 3, but the boxart is not decent, lol.

At least Megaman looked like himself, and not like a man dealing with a midlife crisis

38 - New Super Mario Bros U

While New Super Mario Bros was a great tribute, NSMBU was an excellent follow-up. I skipped both New Super Mario Bros Wii and New Super Mario Bros 2, so I wasn’t affected by the 2D Mario fatigue that harmed the series. The game is not revolutionary, not even if we compare it with other New SMB games, but it has everything that makes a good platformer good.

#44 Game Description: This sequel follows it's predecessor by having a touch based story mode where you play mini games revolving around bombs to get coins and accessories. It's other mode is a more widely recognized and despite being newer, it can still pair up with any past game on the this system for multiplayer goodness. Created by a company that went bankrupt and was acquired by a big company

Game hint: Oversized heads and hands with lots of explosions!

--

#40 Game Description: The 2nd game of this series that debuted in the 6th generation, with the sequel still on the same system. Skipped the 7th generation only to have the 3rd sequel on the 8th. This game adds in another playable character that allows easy switching

Game hint: Strength in numbers is the key to sucess

--

#39 Game Description: A PC game that revolves around technology, resources, diplomacy, and of course fighting. This 3rd game plays on a grid based map that allows for stacking of units, making it really hard to capture cities

Game hint: Territory you own depends on your cultural influence

#44: It seems a Bomberman game... But there are hundreds of those. I'm going with Bomberman Land Touch! 2, that I think suits the description, although I'm not sure.

#39: Civilization 3?

Yes to both, took quite a while for somebody to guess #44 o:

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]

Around the Network

Resident Evil: Revelations

A Nintendo system where the best game on it is not first party, not developed in-house by Nintendo themselves, that's a rare occurrence. The 3DS handheld however is such a system. 'Resident Evil: Revelations' takes the system to the next level pushing visuals that didn't seem possible.

The game is a return to the series' roots, taking place in dark, abandoned and confined spaces of a cruise-ship with the gameplay scale tipped more towards the horror aspect once again. Being a survival horror game, the game has it's fair share of tense moments and a lot of jump-scares. Like much of the series, there's a real B-movie story in the game, which is quite entertaining and keeps you going. This story is presented in small episodes, which are perfect for short and powerful handheld gaming sessions.

The game's design still allows itself to mix things up and every now and then, a faster paced, more action-oriented section takes place. Progression is as such that when the player gets further into the game, more of the ship becomes accessible due to the player unlocking new areas in each 'Episode', the game's variant on levels presented as if it was a television-series. It's a shame the second game didn't make it to the 3DS for some reason, but I'm happy to play it on Playstation Vita instead!

#37: This game, contains every cliche imaginable about the '60s or old spy-movies.

Another mini update

44. Luigi's Mansion

43. U-foria the Saga, great Metroidvania style game for the NES, very bizarre and weird too.

42. Pokemon Black 2 / White 2 Version

41. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, my favorite entry in the Metal Gear series

40. Kid Icarus Uprising, very charming game, Hades best villian

39. Bayonetta 2

38. Viewtiful Joe 2

The PAL version of Mega Man is probably my favorite.
