#48 Beyond Good & Evil

This was a highly enjoyable puzzle-action game with a very good story and characters to push it above most of its peers. The stop-start teasing for a sequel has been quite annoying, but it finally seems Ubisoft is finally doing something with the IP, which is great for people like me who liked the first game.

Here's a hint for #47:

A third game in a city-cuilding strategy game series from the late 90's. Takes inspiration and is set in an actual historical period during the peak of a certain empire's power.

Caesar III?

That's the one. One of my all time favourite strategy games.

Around the Network

Here's my unsolved hints and new hint of the day.

50 - You travel around levels riding a magic carper, get magic spells from red pots, build a castle, kill monsters to get orange mana balls, and kill the other enemy carpet riders. When you get enough mana, you beat the stage and move on to the next one. Made by a dead company who also made Theme Park and Theme Hospital.

48 - Seen as a copy of this massively successful franchise, but is a little more silly in comparison. This game is the last one before it went in a really weird direction.

47 - You were once a normal otaku guy, until you became some sort of ghoul, and you're helping a vampire kill off other ghouls disguised as people by... taking off their clothes. They burn of when their skin is exposed to sunlight. The same thing can happen to you though.

Cr*p! I always forget about Caesar when I make this list, even though I love that game. It'll be on my list one of these years finally. :-|

The only games I have ever known that include magic carpets are Aladdin, Prince of Persia 2 and a game actually called Magic Carpet. Since as far as I know of it's only controllable in the latter I'll guess that one. Even though I don't remember it being a Bullfrog game, that's interesting, but I only played it once or twice like twenty years ago.

So, Magic Carpet?

I probably would have forgotten about it as well if I hadn't just recently bought it from a sale.

Really? How nice.

Bullfrog was great, only have one of their games on my list but I also loved Dungeon Keeper, Populous... Also played Theme Park a lot until Rollercoaster Tycoon came along. Oh well, another one of EA's victims I guess.

Duck Hunt as guessed by Slarvax

'Duck Hunt' is very likely to be the first game I ever played, though the Videopac game 'Gunfighter' (#50) or 'Super Mario Bros.', which was on the same Nintendo cartridge, are also very possible. Sadly, there's no way to know. The game is a classic anyway though, and me remembering playing it so clearly, is testament to it being the game that introduced me to Nintendo, even if I didn't know what it was exactly.

I played it, and the Black Box 'Soccer' game, regularly with my cousin on the Nintendo Entertainment System of my aunt, first at her house, later at my grandmother's when my aunt replaced the NES with the SNES. She was an avid gamer at the time and like every gamer that ever played this game, we all grew to despise the dog. It's funny, how that dog is today probably one of the most referenced and recognizable gaming characters ever created.

I loved the light-gun in every way from how it looked, the sound it made when pulling the trigger to the sound the television made when shooting those ducks. As probably known by everyone, the game has two modes; the Duck Hunt mode and the Clay Pigeon mode where you shoot clay pigeons instead of 'real' ducks. We played the real duck mode, almost always, and it remains, though simple, as one of my best memories in my gaming life.

Hint #47 (if you know me, it's ecpc).

A highly acclaimed game which I just fine decent. Sometimes I say it's boring.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

NNID: Slarvax - Steam: Slarvax - Friend Code:  SW 7885-0552-5988

#47: The version I played didn't have it, but the original release included in it's soundtrack a main theme that was based on the anthem of a rather... shady, to say the least, real-life government.

#50 Game Description: This spin-off jrpg series makes it's debut on a Sony platform, where the next (and final) 2 installments moved over to Nintendo handhelds. This is the 2nd spin-off game in this franchise was released on the GBA

Game hint: Anime Hairdo

-

#49 Game Description: This is yet another spin-off game where the developers used the IP from Nintendo. This game merges many of the characters from past titles within the franchise, though many are only obtainable through DLC

Game hint: The Guardian was split into 2 characters, the light which joins you near the beginning, and the dark which is the antagonist

-

#48 Game Description: This simulation game makes it's debut way back in the old console era and most games were released primarily on Nintendo systems though others have been released for Sony systems as well. It has moved mainly to the handheld systems, and this game was released only on a Nintendo handheld

Game hint: Game requires basically only touch controls to play
