it's overrated, but compared to other games in the same genre it's outstanding imho.

Pretty sure it came out a year or so after Mario 64.
My favorite game ever is Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, which not only sold poorly, but is part of a genre that isn't known for amazing meta-scores.
If we're talking about other people's favorite games, I have a tough time enjoying the Uncharted games. The story and graphics are amazing, and I enjoy the parkour elements...but the gunplay has never felt very fun to me.
Probably not as controversial, but though I loved Persona 4, there are games in its own frachise I enjoyed much more.
