Canada and Mexico aren't about to spurn big brother. 
I hope they do. The EU needs to protect itself from the Putin/Trump collective. They will be facing it from both sides.
It's not like we have to. The weapons industry will do enough lobby work in the US to make them step in if they want to or not.
And now that we have President Trump who will singlehandedly defeat ISIS, Iran, China and North Korea I don't even see why we would need any army at all in Europe. I heard they have 60 million new volunteers in the US now. Should be enough to defeat everyone.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

That might be true, but people need to know they have an enemy to help them get through tough times domestically

Yeah, or maybe Russia should put troops and missiles on Mexico's border, oh wait they did that with Cuba, the US didnt like that very much, much like Russia dosn't like the EU border being used as a US military staging area
