Ubisoft raises guidance for fiscal 2007-08

· Sales target increased to around 920 M€ and operating margin to around 14%.

· Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Vegas 2 sells-in around 2 million units, better than expected.

· Assassin’s Creed™ and Games For Everyone brands continue to outperform.

Paris, March 31, 2008 – Today, Ubisoft, one of the world’s largest video game publishers, raises its guidance for fiscal 2007-08 on the back of overall strong performance from its games.

Yves Guillemot, President and CEO of Ubisoft, stated “As expected, 2008 is off to be a record year for the videogame market and our games have performed remarkably well in this context. Assassin’s Creed and our Games For Everyone brands continued their strong performance and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 had a better than expected start. One year after the great success of the first title, the second iteration, which provides another unique multi-player experience in the much enjoyed Tom Clancy environment, is ranked among the top games on Xbox360® and PLAYSTATION®3 in almost every country."

It's pretty sad that games like this sell so much. Also, it looks to be undertracked on VG chartz, unless they had huge increases 2nd week.

Just one more nail in the coffin of big budget third party system exclusives.

Given all the stories about bugs and glitches I'm surprised its hit 2 million so fast.

The difference is way too massive to be undertacking problems. Besides does anybody actually think Vegas 2 is big enough to hit 2 million in 2 weeks? They probably massively stuffed the channel to inflate their report seeing as the FY just ended.

Edit: added the last line after pooper quoted me...

Good for them. It's a good game.

Its big enough to hit 2 million units shipped...Just like DMC4 did.

I'd think that in the US alone, retailers probably ordered 750,000 units of RSV2 for the 360 alone....RSV1 sold oh-so well, and with long legs, and many, re-orderings. Retailers are ahead of the curve this time.

VGC has RSV2 at 500k NA (PS3/X360), and like 350k for PAL (PS3/X360)...And how many weeks of supplies do you think that retailers ordered? 4 weeks? 5 weeks?

Think of it in those terms...
850k first week
??? 2nd week. Should be above 400,000 units for both consoles. That'd already be 1.25m in 2 weeks, and I am sure distributors are just making sure they have enough copies of such a big March blockbuster game.

And....ioi could be wrong for NA numbers....Ala COD4. But maybe not. Lets wait till March NPD comes out, before we jump to any conclusions.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

DMC 4 "hit" 2m before 1m copies had been sold, I think it had sold even less than this indeed

I want to believe you Ubisoft. I really do.
