Forums - Sony - Opinions on ps pro so far?

Is anyone having trouble getting they pro to show up on the TV screen?Just watched a stream with this guy going on a rant, that it took him 24 hours to even get it to show. The only way e could get it to work s by plugging the hdmi into the PSVR box.

Not sure what he did wrong. Sounds weird. Maybe he was on the wrong HDMI?

The HDMI handshake takes longer on the pro than on the base ps4. Up to 3 seconds though, not 24h :)
Perhaps his tv isn't supporting 2.0 right, or his ps4 pro 2.0 output is broken. The PSVR box switches the ps4 pro back to 1.4 output.

My Pro has bricked twice now, I hope it's just bad luck...

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

It was working before the patch? The flickering he got? Hard to listen to his rant, yet he says he knows his hdmi stuff, then is still amazed that the psvr unit drops splitters down to 1.4. Splitters drop down to the lowest common denominator of the connected devices, you can't send hdmi 2.0 and 1.4 through at the same time...

Sounds like the normal risk of early adopters. HDMI 2.0a handshakes gone wrong. I doubt it's a conspiracy that it works on Sony tvs, ofcourse Sony has their handshake shit sorted out internally. Blame the industry for not settlling on firm standards. Or blame the blu-ray consortium with the stupid HDCP 2.2 requirements which is likely causing these problems. A patch should be able to fix it.

Last gen was worse, remember ps3 could only display at 480p on 720p tvs.... HD lol. This whole HDR stuff was released prematurely, very few tvs can properly display it with another format battle going on again. The thing has been out for 4 days. Shit will be sorted out, and fuck hdmi, worst idea ever.

I know it's just released but im wondering if anyone has bought one and can give me their opinion? I specifically would like to hear from users that upgraded from regular ps4. Im thinking of buying one tomorrow but still unsure if its worth it.

Don't have one, but from what I've seen, if you have a PS4, there's no reason to upgrade unless you really want PSVR.  If you don't have a PS4 and are holding off, wait a little longer and pick one up when they're discounted.  The only reason why I see a need for people to upgrade from a One to the S (which I do own) is if you want to play UHD Blu-rays...the reason why I bought the S.  Otherwise most games avaialbe on those systems are also on PC which my PC is a beast.

Stop hating and start playing.

Are you going to return it?

It's too early to go that far and it's not like my PS3 or PS4 haven't bricked before.

First my Pro got stuck on rest mode and other time the web browser did it. For the time being I'll just classify these problems as "growing pains" of a new system.
